8/22 Freya first low number scare

I was able to get a Libre reattached to Freya last night to get more readings during the night. I checked against my ReliOn and it was showing about 50pts lower on the Libre, so the nighttime readings were looking ok to me. After her dose this morning, I had to leave for a bit, and she was still around 260 at AM+1.5. I got back home at AM+6 and started getting alerts from the Libre that she was low, down to 53. Got a bit freaked out and tested her with the AlphaTrak and that came in at 87. She seems to be acting normally still, and I gave her some of the higher carb wet food.

I gave her vet a call and they're suggesting we probably skip the dose tonight and starting tomorrow reset to using 1U rather than 1.5U that we have been using. Does that seem like a good plan, or do you think I should look at going to 1.25U instead? Libre reading right now is up to 105, so I think we're out of the scare zone for a hypo event.

Jude is like this--he takes a while to respond to a dose increase, and when he does, BAM. I think Elise (tiffmaxee) is right, though, about the dose decrease to 1.25. The .25 increase/decreases are small enough to help kitties hit the sweet spot and not miss it. And both dosing methods that most of us on the forum use (tightly regulated and start low go slow) typically adjust doses at .25 increments. You might expect for her to see some lower numbers on the 1.25 dose because the 1.50 dose depot will still be in play. All that to say, keep a close eye on her. If she drops into numbers that you don't feel comfortable with, pull out the medium and/or high carb food to bump her up--a couple of tsps at a time and then test to see where she is. You don't want to feed her too much if she hits lower numbers or she might not eat later in the cycle when you might need for her to.
