Good Sunday Morning, Everyone,

We have thunderstorms today--great picnic weather, but fortunately we'll have a canvas shelter over our picnic tables this afternoon at the Mt. Club annual picnic.

Rusty is certainly starting out better than yesterday, but I'd like to see him soon back to his normal numbers. This morning's shot was good (I think). Breakfast was consumed in 2 sittings (and a hope for a 3rd, but the bean did not acknowledge that "look") (I've cut down very slightly on the size of Rusty's portions so that he doesn't eat more than one 5 1/2 oz. can of Wellness Turkey in a 24-hour period; in addition to the can of Wellness, he gets a teaspoon of FF T&G at bedtime as a treat and a small snack of cubed cooked chicken in water at AMPS +9). The key to losing that extra pound safely is more exercise, and yesterday we had a really good play in the afternoon, despite the very warm weather. We are looking forward to Fall!!!

Edward is baking bread this morning (we've been so busy he hasn't baked in over a month). So we'll have really good peanut-butter sandwiches on our paddle tomorrow (the North Branch of the Salmon River--full of beaver dams and forest debris--an adventure trip).

Everyone have a good day today. We continue to send healing vines and good thoughts to all our kitties in need.

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

Hi Ella, glad you had a good shot. I may have done a miss! That's too bad about the thundershowers today for your picnic, but a canvas will help. It all sounds like a nice day. Wow, Edward is making homemade bread. I wonder if there's any way Rusty could bring some to the kitty's get together tonight to give to the Beans  Have a nice day.

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

Beautiful # this morning, Ella! :) I hope that he'll surf in the  s for you today!

Unfortunately, I can't get Blackie to play like she used to. There are spurts, but it's still bit difficult. I'd like to know your secret! Perhaps I can ship Blackie to you for a trim-down. Just kidding! :-D

I LOVE the smell of baking bread! Hmm... I wonder if it's hard to do, and if I should invest in a bread making machine in the future...? I don't think I'm quite adept at making it by hand. Enjoy a nice, warm delicious slice for me too, please. :) Have a great day!

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

Glad you are doing the safe slow approach to weight loss. It takes time but its the best thing for Rusty.

I haven't been able to convert Henry from kibble to wet food so his monitored diet starts today.

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

Hi Ella!

Oh know Rusty it's that dirty word diet. :-D Looks good Ella, glad he likes to play.

Have a nice paddle. I love the fall too. Sept and Oct are my favorite months. So crisp and beautiful.

Have a nice day.

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

Morning Rusty lets come back to greens for your Bean and hope you have a great picnic and paddle and the weather cooperates for both ;-)

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

Morning guys!

Nice start Rusty - think green today, OK? sorry about the diet buddy... gotta lose that extra poundage ya know. Mannie does too - maybe you to should work on this together - you know: the buddy system....

We too are beginning to see those hints of fall - you can feel it in the air. I love September and October too - my fav months. Great hiking time too! Enjoy your paddle tomorrow - it sounds like a good one. Challenging but good.

Kudos on the bread baking - there it nothing like the aroma of fresh baked bread - YUM!

Hey Rusty! What's up? ~~ Mannie

Thanks, Jan
So nice to hear from you. I've been thinking of you a lot and hope that your loving memories of Sara are helping you through this time.
Wishing you and your family a really nice late-August Sunday--hints of autumn are already here in the mountains.

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151

I love homemade bread!!! Not the bread machine stuff ...the real stuff! I found a recipe that is fairly quick and easy to make. So bread is made several times a week here.

Rusty is off to a very nice start today. Go Rusty!!!

Good luck on the paddle adventure!

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151, +5.5 139, +8.5 133

Nice to see Rusty coming back down. Good luck with the diet. It's good he loves to play and get his exercise.

Yum on the bread...I hope you are out enjoying the picnic despite the t-storms

Rusty...Tobey needs KTSS....he gots a bad infection in his eye again. Maybe some cinnamon cake would help...did your bean make some for the picnic???

PS....since Tobey is so addicted to the cinnamon cake, can you share the recipe pls?? ;-) ;-) ;-)

Hi again and good evening,

We were lucky with our picnic. It rained almost all day, the rain stopped for the picnic (at least for the time we were there) and now it's raining again!! We hope it will clear overnight so that the paddle tomorrow will be not so difficult (it's a difficult paddle in good weather!).

Rusty has been coming down gradually all day and hopefully by tonight we'll see some green. We did have a good play this afternoon with Big Bug and the busy box. I am glad to see him beginning to show an interest in playing again. I've been a bit worried about him. He does have chronic upper-respiratory issues and when we go for our wellness profile this fall I will ask the new vet about it. I need to see if it might be asthma or an allergy. Since I started the L-lysine regularly about a week ago, he seems a lot better.

Off now to visit condos. Everyone have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. to Marje. Sorry to hear about Tobey's eye and hope it will be better tomorrow. I am also sorry that I can't share the recipe for cinnamon cake with you. It's a "virtual" cake that Chefs Stu and Mannie invented last year to celebrate FD birthday parties. But Tobey is so charming that I let him think that I make it just for him! (And he's never disappointed).
I made cranberry/walnut/chocolate chip cookies for the picnic and will gladly share that recipe in Loose Lips later this week (I found it in a local cookbook and have to see if it is copyrighted).

Re: 8/21 Rusty AMPS 151, +5.5 139, +8.5 133, PMPS 122

My lips are sealed about the cake

Mmmmmm fresh baked bread.....can you send Edward up this way?

Instead of the kitties partying and stuffing their faces everynight we should force them to go to a Fat Cat Camp, full of activities and exercise.....and no snoozing!!!! That way everyone could lose weight safely! I know Leo is pushing 17 lbs again  he needs a diet.

Glad to hear the rain went away for your picnic and i hope the weather cooperates for tomorrow's paddle.

Have a great evening Ella and Rusty!
