Happy eclipse day from a very overcast Chicago!

Rose started the party early - she has been eating everything and still acting very hungry. Special treat this weekend because beef tenderloin was on sale. I broke down a whole one while being very well supervised by an interested stakeholder (or did I mean "steak holder"). She enjoyed all the scraps that were shared and then happily ate cat food for dinner! :joyful:

Carol,
does Rosie eats raw/raw beef regularly?
In what ratio to canned?
We are going to try raw for Ducia soon so I am seeking as much opinions on raw diet as possible.
We are really frustrated by the cat food industry - nothing seems to be reliable in formula any longer, or nutrient and being affordable. :blackeye::(
Raw might be a solution.

N0 she eats almost exclusively FF classics, but has recently become obsessed with anything I'm eating or preparing in the kitchen. Any interest in people food is new for her. Before Dx she was free fed (dry with 2 meals of canned daily). With no dry and scheduled meals, she now begs for anything and everything. The beef was a special treat.

I have considered raw in the past, but was always afraid of it from a classic human food safety stand point. Of course, she is a cat and built to eat raw. With all the talk on the board about raw I didn't hesitate when she wanted some of the tenderloin. I figured that would have to be good. She really like it. I'm happy we don't have some of the appetite challenges others have struggled with. I'm trying to find her favorites in the event she does get picky.

I have seen several folks talk about EZC raw and that is what I would do if I were to move to raw. They recommend you introduce in very small amounts (1/2 tsp) to her regular food. I haven't tried it, but they have samples available. I recently saw someone mention their dried egg yolks. When I looked into purchasing, they provided details to make your own. Eggs were $.47 / dz. at my local store. It took some time, but worked great! She is now eating a pinch in 1 meal daily.

I would think that if you do decide to transition to raw, you can use whatever protein is in Ducia's favorite food as a starting point. They recommend using 1 protein at a time as you transition to raw. Hope you share updates if you decide to try it.

@Tanya and Ducia , I'm also looking into transitioning to raw food, mostly for my 17 year old cat, who seems he's not getting enough to eat (other possibilities are IBD and pancreatitis). My sample is in the mail. I can make sure to tag you if you are interested if I do any updates with that. :bighug:

Ty, Carol! I did not know that detail.

I am interested please let me know!

We were thinking of going Dr. Lisa method - completely prepared at home but instead of grinding bones I'd order EZ Complete powder for minerals and vitamins. I do not think I have guts to go 100% raw. Most likely, as per Dr. Lisa - 1/4 baked & 3/4 raw. The bacteria factor is worrisome and I still have no money for vets in case something happened. The last straw for me was reading @Amanda Weaver recent condo about her kitty being blocked by what appeared to be bone masses from Friskies canned. I mash all pates with water and watch closely was in there but I don't want them - Fieskies and all their lot - to have any of my money with that kind of negligence. :stop:

You know I never heard anything back after I told them I didn't want their coupons for more product. I'm interested in transitioning to raw too but not sure how much work that takes
