8/21 Esse AMPS 145

Previous thread!

Yesterday's big excitement was that Esse managed to get out of his shirt somehow during his AM shot--we have to undo a button to reach his scruff/shoulder and Esse saw his opportunity and (literally) ran with it. Sam was thinking he was going to have to beg one of our friends who lives nearby to come over and help get it back on--since it normally requires two of us and I'm out of town--but once they both calmed down he actually was able to do it on his own. I'm pretty impressed!

Unrelated, but I thought some might appreciate this: My mom currently has 3 cats, one that she's owned for almost a decade and two that she acquired more recently when my grandmother passed. The older one has always been prone to occasional vomiting after eating. One of the newer ones apparently also has tummy issues, and my mom was complaining to me that she now found herself cleaning up someone's puke almost every day and wasn't sure what to do about it. They'll be going in for their annual vet visits soon but I mentioned to her that I had learned from the folks here how common IBD and food sensitivities are in cats, and maybe she should try switching up their proteins and seeing what happened. She stopped giving them chicken-based flavors of their current food and just from that, they've been almost a week with no pukes! She's getting some other foods to experiment with but is really hopeful that such a simple change will make a big difference. FDMB is really such a great resource, even for non-diabetics. :)

And for anyone curious, here's a pic of my mom's older cat, Britta. She was actually originally adopted as a kitten by my college boyfriend and his roommate, but when they graduated they couldn't take her and gave her to me. I had her for about a year after college but was traveling a ton for work, so my mom took her. She's my mom's soul cat... or maybe my mom is Britta's soul-person--right from the start, she bonded with my mom in a completely different way than she ever did with me or her original owners. She's the sweetest, gentlest marshmallow of a cat. Funny all the different ways our kitty friends can come into our lives!

Wow, Esse is a real handful! So glad Sam managed with such skill.

They can manage to be very naughty at times!
Behave Esse, and safe surfing 💞🏄‍♂️🌊😻
