Thanks for vetty vines. Rose did fine, but her numbers aren't as good as I would like to see. On the positive side, the WBC is down again, but it is still a mystery what has caused it to climb several times. We are going to try a longer term AB "pulse" to see if we can keep it down. Whatever it is seems to respond to Orbax, so we are going to continue that every few days. I'm saying "whatever it is" because several C&S urine tests failed to grow, so the only sign of infection is WBC.
Rose doesn't like the fact that when she takes Obrax, it disrupts her food schedule. She has phos binders in all her food now and the Orbax must be given 2 hours before /after food because of interactions with the binders. The disruption in her food schedule might be why she has lost .5 lbs but I am thinking she is just not as interested in food as she has been. She is still eating, but not with enthusiasm or begging as much as she has in the past for treats.
The other negative is that her BUN spiked up. It could be because she is eating more Rad Cat, but I don't know. I am worried this is just continued decline of kidney function. She is already getting SQ daily, so I'm not sure what else to do.
We have been thinking WBC might be high due to inflammation not just infection, so I started her on GLM about 1 month ago. I'm wondering if that has had any impact but don't know if it would show up in lab tests.
It would be so much easier if she could talk to tell me how she feels. She did a bit of her own type of talking today. She "chirps" when she is happy such as after capturing a milk jug ring. Today after enjoying some chicken hearts, she chirped as if to say "thank you". I'm taking that as a positive.
