Don't have any advice other than take a day to celebrate this accomplishment! drinking24
Congratulations to you and Lily!!!

I am sure some more experienced eyes will have some info for you

hi Laura!

Most OTJ kitties get tested about once a week after trial/party...for some beans it's hard to put the meter away, so sad....
unfortunately, it's a hard habit to break
 lol!!

after about a month, its good to test at least once a month or whenever you feel something is "off" with Lily.
We like to see milestone updates too - like one month, 6 months OTJ, etc.., open a condo here and/or in the Honeymoon forum and keep us posted on Lily.

Ronnie is speaking from experience regarding that "for some beans it's hard to put the meter away, so sad....
unfortunately, it's a hard habit to break"   I think she used to wear her meter around her neck!!!
Right Ronnie!
For me, it was easy to stop testing Raja every 3 hours cause I still had Shadow on insulin...
It is an adjustment...but you will soon get used to it. Wishing you happy days at the Falls!
See you at your party in another condo today! :thumbup

I think its an adjustment we ALL would like to make though, right? Congrats guys!

"Hi. I'm MJ. And I'm a test-a-holic."

All kidding aside.... personally I've seen more than a few OTJers return from the Falls lately, and I do not take for granted that Donovan will remain OTJ forever. He continued to throw a lot of blues at me after his OTJ trial. After about a month, I decreased the number of usual spot checks, and then I eliminated the morning tests *yawn* after ~3 months. It has been almost 6 months since OTJ, and I'm down to testing only M/W/F in the evening. OK, so I have a BUTTLOAD of test strips I'm still trying to use up (expiration March ). It gives me more peace of mind knowing how he's doing, but at the same time, it's great to know I don't necessarily HAVE to test him. If I forget, or am not home, oh well. The flexibility to do that took some getting used to. It also helps that he is *very* good about pokeys. Most of the time he barely wakes up when I do it.

It's up to you to decide how best to monitor your cat, be it a daily chat with her, LB inspections, constant staring, or continuing the pokeys for a while longer. You know her best, and likely will sense when something is "off".

Hi Laura,
Maggie had her OTJ Party July 25, and I'm afraid I am one of those that has been testing every day, but after her officially one month OTJ update, I will test every other day and then once a week. My Vet said once a week when she first went OTJ! Congratulations again to you and Lily. Maggie's waiting to greet Lily.

For me, I will probably test Spot twice a day for a week or two more to make sure the OTJ is holding. Then I'll probably do once a day for a while, then I'll skip a day....than a few days...and continue on until I am sure I don't have to test that often. This is Spot's 4th OTJ trial, so you can see why I'm such a test a holic!
