Still making crazy weird sounds - wasn't easy sleeping with her next to my pillow last night, but I eventually dropped off to sleep. She ate nearly her entire +9 snack (1 Tbsp Wellness mixed with Transfer Factor supplement). And for breakfast, she managed to eat (in little stages) nearly 2 1/2 Tbsp Wellness Turkey Salmon (mixed w/probiotics and lysine and a homeopathic sinus pill). That's a very good breakfast for my girl.

Going to try to make a vet appt today.

My mom and dad were married 44 yrs ago today - Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Good girl Kasha - keep up the good eating!

I'm sure you've tried everything out there to help with her congestion, so disregard this if you've already done it. I googled cat congestion, or something like that, and I came across a site where you can ask 14 vets a question, and if you like their answer you pay them. Someone asked a question about congestion in their cat, and the dr. who answered said to try children's decongestant liquid. You can put one drop in each nostril. I wish I remembered the website - I'll try to find it, in case you're interested.

And happy anniversary to your M&D! My folks will also be celebrating their 44th anniversary this year, but not til November!

Have a good day!

Oh poor Kasha with the congestion. Does it seem like she's getting a little better or more of the same?

Great AMPS though in spite of her problems. I sure hope the Vet can come up with some answers to help Kasha. Happy Anniversary to your parents!

Thanks, Kristen. I know exactly the site you're talking about. I actually called my vet's office last weeked to ask about decongestant drops after reading about them there and other places online - I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any reason Kasha shouldn't have them... They called me back and said they were giving me a prescription for nose drops and I didn't realize till I got home that they gave me antibiotic nose drops, not decongestant nose drops. Which was ok, because someone I know who rescues cats recommended antibiotic nose drops for similar symptoms... However, now we're nearly a week later with weird noises coming from her and we need some other ideas...

And that's not counting the 4 years they were together before getting married! My mom was 16, I think, when they first started seeing e/o. I guess they are one of the lucky couples that grows together as they age, rather than apart. Unfortunately for me, they may have set the bar (i.e. my expectations) a little too high... LOL!

I had to run to work after that + 1.4, so Kasha is on her own with those greens - and a lot of food left out. It seems like sometimes she hits the 60s or so early on and then hovers in the 70s and 80s for a while. So, hopefully she'll do that today. I'm almost out of vacation time, so no more staying home to watch Kasha's numbers unless they are crazy low - I have to save some leave time in case of a real emergency (or the for cat-induced nervous breakdown I'm planning to have later this year) ;-)

Congrats on 32 years! I can't even imagine (no, really - I can't!!!)

Hope you get rid of your sniffles. I'm been a little congested too, but not like Kasha...

Only ate about 1 1/6 Tbsp dinner - we tried Friskies and while she seemed to like it, it was harder to eat than the pate and water mix of Wellness, so we switched to Wellness about halfway thru. She had a long day - we just got home from the vet, and I'm not going to push her.

So... the vet found a tiny, tiny fragment of her tooth protruding from her gum (or something like that) where her canine had been extracted. It was tiny enough to escape notice when they did the dental, but it's been removed now (it was tiny enough that Kasha let her reach in with hemostats and remove it right then and there). She thinks that might have been exacerbating things and hopes it will set Kasha on the path to healing. Otherwise her mouth is healing well.

Kasha's temp was normal - on the low end of normal and her weight was up a few ounces from our last visit (I was worried since her appetite is so iffy). We talked about trying another antihistamine, but Kasha is so difficult to pill and she's not interested in pill pockets at all now... so my vet is going to research decongestants and antihistamines and in the meantime, I am going to try to find infant neo-synephrine (sp?) or similar - of course, she wrote this all down and I immediately misplaced the sheet of paper. But I can figure it out - I think the site that Kristen (Emma) referred to earlier mentions a product that contains the same ingredients. For now, my vet put a drop of a similar ephedrine solution (I think) in Kasha's nose that was basically the same thing, she said. Then she gave me the rest of the dropperful to take home till I find the stuff in the store.

While we were there, some clear nasal discharge appeared in Kasha's one nostril - we haven't had liquid discharge for a while, but it was good to see it was clear.

And, once again -no charge for the vet visit.

Good vetty report Krys
And nice bonus of no charge.

Looking good in a nice blue.

Congratulations to your parents. hope it was a lovely day.

Hi Krys, Stu is taking his pill in a little piece of butter. So far, so good and the pill isn't in the dish after he finishes the butter. Nice vet not to charge you for the visit! Fingers and paws crossed that Kasha will get rid of her sinus troubles soon.
Wish your parents a happy anniversary for us (we are not far behind them: 41 official years in May)! Yep, time flies!!!

Ella & Stu

That's a nice vet report...hopefully this is all you need to get Kasha on the road to recovery and to kiss those sniffles goodbye!
