WCR: Most Ps in place. We have pees & poops, purrs and preening. I got snuggles last night in bed and she was very cute this morning as she waited for breffis. I skipped the Bupe last night and did not give her any this morning. I did give her 1/2 tab Cerenia, but she wasn't extremely interested in her breffis. I just think she doesn't love the Friskies Special Diet - Turkey & Giblets, but I needed her to eat it because I added her Atenolol into it. She's jumping up onto the couch, ottoman & chair without needing the little green step stool. She's still not 100%, but she's kind of better....still sad looking.

So, anyone have experience with animals having stroke? I started thinking about all of the issues she was dealing with on Tuesday/Wednesday combine that with her unofficial heart condition which she had been off of her heart medication for a month and the fact that she's starting to regain function...I'm wondering if she had a stroke earlier this week. I may never know if that is what really happened, but if it is, I'm praying for a full recovery & I will keep her on her heart meds regardless of whether my vet thinks she has a heart condition or not.

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Sounds good, Deborah.

Yes, Will is suspected to have had a minor stroke (vet called it a mini stroke) on June 28. Symptoms were sudden. He couldn't get up, he couldn't really move his legs. His eyes had a vacant emptiness.

When he did finally get up, he walked awkwardly, almost like he didn't know where his legs were and he was off balance. Still vacant eyed.

Three hours later by the time we got to the e-vet, almost 100 miles away, he was able to stand, walk slowly, and even sit.

Stroke. Maybe. Pinched nerve, maybe. Something neurological or spinal for sure since he's now knuckling his rear feet when he lazy walks. Out on the trails, he's pretty good to go, although no more running, just a lope. And he'll knuckle then, too, when he's tired.

The Adequan is what really seems to help him.

I hope Shasta keeps improving.

@tiffmaxee - I have not taken her to get an US. Because of her "fractious" nature (as my current vet refers to her), she has to be sedated for everything and the fear of her not coming out of sedation was always a worry for me...not to mention the amount of stress she goes through at every vet visit. She puts feral cats to shame. My vet did recommend a few places south of me that have the equipment to handle US, etc. I'm super upset that this is all happening just as my summer is ending and teachers go back to work this week. :banghead:

Thank you, Carla, Amy & Michelle! We'll take all the help we can get.

@pollydoodle - I'm sorry to hear about your sweet Will, but I'm happy that he's doing better. It amazes me how fast they regain function as opposed to humans. Shasta had so many things going on at the beginning of the week, it's hard for me to pinpoint when things really took at turn. Like you said, maybe it was a mini stroke or maybe just a pinched nerve. There was/is definitely something neurological going on with her...even the vet noticed that she wasn't quite up to her usual Tasmanian Devil standards. She seems to be regaining her strength a little more each day. Just keeping my fingers crossed for her and Will!
