Well, we bounced higher than yesterday, as per Mr. Jack's pattern. Although I am happy he is neg for acro/IAA, I am now trying to figure out why he needs so much insulin; aside from being a stubborn pig and not eating wet food. We will continue the 9.5 this week, I have another note out to the clinic for a copy of his last CBC to look at other things that may be contributing to his insulin resistance, although I don't remember there being anything out of the ordinary. We both appreciate all of your input and support. Jack's mom is getting tired and having you all here helps a lot!

I’m glad he tested negative! Just seeing this. :bighug::bighug::bighug:Does the insulin seem to bother him? I know many switch to Levemir when on high doses for that reason. If he’s ok no need to switch obviously.

It doesn't seem to bother him, he holds really still now. He's used to the routine. I don't know anything about Levemir, will have to look it up. Maybe that would work better for him?

I don’t know if it will work better. Ask Wendy. Sone complain Lantus stings in high doses. Some do better on levemir. @Wendy&Neko
Technically, he's on Semglee, which is not the same as generic Lantus, to my knowledge. But, if Levemir will work better, I would be willing to try. I will try to get some research on $ and availability done in the next few days. Thanks.

The FDA has deemed Semglee identical with Lantus. We haven't seen any difference between cats on the two. Levemir is made differently. More details here: LANTUS and LEVEMIR: What's the Difference?

The biggest difference for you is a later onset and a later nadir. I liked the later nadir - Neko nadired close to preshot time, so I was generally around for that. It did mean getting used to shooting lower numbers of course. The later onset meant I had even more time to get food in her before the insulin took effect. Typical onset is around +4 and typical nadir around +8. That doesn't always work with people's schedules, so that's the down side. It also does not have a generic so it can cost more. Some people find their cats are flatter on Levemir, a little bit more duration than Lantus. I liked the flatness, which meant more predictability. And most important, longer stretches of sleep at night for me. Neko also was feeling some sting for Lantus, walked away from the shot sometimes. She purred through Lev shots.

Thanks for this info, I'll start looking into it.
