Thank you for all the ideas and suggestions for Trix yesterday. She will remain a non-traditional OTJ kitty for now. I just get thrown off by some of her odd numbers and that makes me think it's time to start thinking about the juice again.....but then Mr P kicks in and confuses me - something that's not hard to do these days! When the confusion hits, it helps me to hear input from others since Trix's case isn't cut-n-dried. And, since her path to OTJ was unconventional and abrupt, I'll keep testing her 3 times a day...poor girl, being OTJ and still getting ear pokes, but if she decides to call it quits at The Falls, I want to catch it right away, especially since we didn't taper down the juice like most of our TR kitties do. She is an enigma...but that seems to run in my family  !

My Dad's port is being installed at 8:45 this morning...basically, in about 10 minutes. At some point soon (hopefully without all the run-around we got with regards to installing the port!), he'll meet with the infusion team and then start the chemo. It is scary and makes all of this bizarre nightmare that much more "real", but things have to start moving forward. In the meantime, he still has absolutely no symptoms, despite having 3 different cancers at once (I read a stat last week that 3 concurrent primary cancers is so rare that it afflicts just 1 out of 4 million people), despite having Stage IV stomach cancer. My parents went out to lunch with my brother and his wife the other day...my Dad polished off his fish and fries, ate most of my mother's fries, and had a jumbo tapioca pudding for dessert. I've said it before: if it weren't for all the tests pointing back to him, you'd think this was all one big horrific lab error. I guess we can consider ourselves lucky that this was caught totally by a fluke, and before he did start feeling ill from it.....

Sending prayers to my entire wonderful amazing LL family....

Amy

Is that really a 16??? I'm glad you got input to help you make the insulin decision. You are a great bean.

Good port installing vines! It will be good to get on with the treatment. I bet it is still so unreal. It is so great that he isn't having any symptoms though. I really hope the chemo goes well and he doesn't get too sick with it. Thinking and praying for you and all your family Amy.

Sending prayers that your dad will continue to feel good and he can be a statistic in remission and recovery from this. Is it possible to poke Trixie twice a day?

Whoooops....fixed her AMBG!

I always do three pokes for Trix to get a feel for what is happening...a morning pre-food starting point, a follow-up 3 hours later to see if Mr P has decided to make a showing (so far, we're batting 1000 there), and an evening pre-food starting point. Once in a blue moon I do an evening follow-up, but not often, especially if Mr P does a great job in the morning. But I do like to know where she is starting and where she goes...it gives me a feel for how she's doing overall.

HI guys .. Trixie is one of kind .. I think we all know that here :-D I hope she never tires of the falls though! Sending calming thoughts to your dad today .. So glad this was caught and there is a plan in action ..

Sounds like a good plan with the juice and overall for Trixie girl. Loving how she brings herself down to green every time. So glad they have your Dad's port procedure scheduled today, and he can start the treatments. Paws crossed and vines for all to go well today. Hugs from us.

Ah, Trixie. You just gotta keep that bean on her toes, don't you. Just keep doing the OTJ your way, little girl. Just make sure your way is a green way, o.k.?

Thinking of your dad today with the port placement. Lots of hope the chemo starts soon. The waiting is so hard. The first treatment can be scarey, too. The unknown, again. My blood pressure was always sky high on treatment days; even my oncologist was concerned about it. I kept insisting it was situational; it was always normal at home. Yet the hardest part of infusion? Sittiing in the comfy recliner for up to four hours...Boring! A book, my laptop (netflix really helped), snacks kept me from being too antsy.

Sending light.

Hi Amy,
Thinking of you and your dad today. Sending wishes that all went well with the port installation and that he'll be comfortable with it. Clare is sending healing wishes to Trixie today, too.

I hope the port installation went well. I'm glad Trixie is doing well so you don't have to worry so much about her. Sending prayers for you dad and your family.

Ah Trixie, you really do believe in ECID!! Nice toe dip in the lagoon today though.

Sending more "get chemo soon" vines to your dad. Waiting has got to be the worst. Make sure he samples all his favorite foods now. My DFIL found that after chemo he couldn't handle the taste of coffee. I think that was the worse side effect for him. :o

More wishes for a successful port installation and firm date (soon) for chemo. Sending lots of healing vines, too.

Glad to see Trixie being Trixie (ie keeping you guessing!). You wouldn't want her to get boring, would you?

Trixie definitely puts the "D" in ECID  !!

The port installation went off without a hitch...they didn't even sedate Dad - just a local numbing agent. No word on chemo yet....I'm sure we'll hear soon enough. It is necessary, but yes, it is scary. Fortunately he loves his iPad (his "beloved iPad" as my Mom calls it!), so he will have no problems keeping himself during the infusions.

Hi Amy,
We are adding more vines to your dad's bouquet and hope that the port installation was successful and that all will go well with the chemo.

Trixie, keep your mamabean guessing! It's good for her

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

I'm glad things went well today. I continue to send prayers and vines that there is smooth sailing with the chemo too. Thanks for stopping by my condo today.

Hi Amy,
Sending many prayers for your Dad.
It's great he's not having any symptoms.

I'm glad Trixie's doing good.

I'm sure you realize the irony of her name being Trixie and all the stunts she pulls! I haven't been posting much, but I have been lurking. Thinking of your DH and the family today. Sending strength and comfort vines to you all.

Sending more light and hugs to you and your family Amy. So glad you're Dad got the port in and hopefully the wait wont be too long. Many vines to him.

Keep up the non traditional good work Trixie Girl :-D
