Yesterday.

Just got back from the vet (he's probably sick and tired of me!!) Xray was done, and no signs on the xray as to why Tiberious is breathing heavy/fast. Heart and lungs look ok. He did rule out DKA . I will be testing for ketones going further. He prescribed an antibiotic 2x's a day (Cephalexin) and pain meds (Tramadol) a quarter of a pill 2-3 x's a day. He also was possibly thinking that he may have pancreatitis (guessing). Thus, the reason for the pain meds. Once again it's a "will go from here" scenario. Much Much thanks to LLEF ♥♥♥. As of now he's eating his dinner in preparation for his PMPS.
We are so very grateful for all your help- Words cannot do it justice. ♥ FDMB and LL !!

Re: 8/19 Tiberious PMPS 227

Pancreatitis is possible. Tiberious just may present differently and rapid breathing may be an indication of pain. I would just keep track of how he responds to the pain meds. What did the vet give you?

And, LLEF rocks!

Re: 8/19 Tiberious PMPS 227

Prayers & Healing green vines to Tiberious for a quick recovery--LL is an amazing place-Welcome!

I am so glad that nothing came up on the Xray and you sound so much better.
I love the pictures.
I think it was meant to be that we connected on the ss because Tiberious looks so much
like my Mom's Spike(GA)
i just want to rub that white belly.

I know you will be keeping a close eye on him.
Welcome again to the family.

Re: 8/19 Tiberious PMPS 227

OMG he is sooooo handsome!!! If Gracie didn't have a major crush on BigMac right now, Tiberious would be her latest infatuation. LOVE the pic of him and Kevin!!!!

Sending mega healing vines to this sweet boy and HUGS to you and Kevin. Tiberious is a very, very lucky young man!

Re: 8/19 Tiberious PMPS 227

And the white booties are really cute, too!!

Just an FYI - some cats' BG numbers drop on Tramadol. It's not consistent across cats but it does happen with some. If this is pancreatitis and Tiberious is "off" his food, you may want to consider giving him Pepsid AC (famotidine). The typical dose is 1/4 of a tablet twice a day. Pancreatitis can make a cat nauseated and Pepsid will help settle his stomach.

Funny you should say that has he just vomited abt 20-30 mins after taking it. He had yet to vomit through this whole ordeal. Will be going to the store now, Thanks again.

The pics are the least I could do!! I hope your vet trip went well. If you can, will you send me the name of that other pain med we were talking about? Tiberious just got sick and I know it's from the Tramadol .
Thanks~

Susan:

ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile so sorry....I totally forgot. What an idgit I am.

Buprenex or they might also call it buprenorphine. It might say "injectable" and it can be injected but usually you just draw the dose in a small syringe (without a needle of course) and put it on their gums so they can absorb it. It has a bitter taste so I always give a treat after.

Re: 8/19 Tiberious PMPS 227

Hi Susan-

I'm behind here and didn't know Tiberious wasn't feeling well. I hope he's feeling better ASAP...it's so hard for us beans when the wee ones are under the weather. And, he is one handsome little man!

Ella,
Thank you for your thoughts and wishes. :-D
Rusty look like my very first kitty I had when I was little, her name was spice. Ohhh the long hair. I love it. I attribute my love of cats to her. She's one of the very first memories I have!
Thanks again!

Ohhh the white belly is my FAV!!! He very rarely shows it off. ( the reason for all the pics of it). It was a stroke of unbelievable good fortune in the midst of all this kitty sickness to find FDMB and LL . People like yourself who helped me out in my time of complete panicness( ??) I know it was just the ss , but at the time I was so unnerved and overwhelmed. I'm so grateful. We thank you !

I have a question whenever anyone has a minute. Tiberious was prescribed 1/4 of a pill of Tramadol for pain. The dose seems to be too high, his behavior is wonky which I've read may occur in a dosage that might be too high. The next time i give it to him should I only give an 1/8 of a pill? confused_cat
Thanks for any info
