Hi All - Reuben feels good on the increased dose of insulin. He woke up perky and hungry an hour before shot time this morning. He had woken me up hungry at around 5 am, so maybe a bigger meal then would have held off his hunger another hour. We'll try that tonight.

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI'

Work the juice Reuben! Come down from the ceiling floor!
I found my Rosy more hungry when having a high bg, maybe the same with Reuben?

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI'

Hi there! I don't think we've visited you before?! Reuben sure sounds like a fighter, he's been thru such a lot! Hope he heads down from that nasty black floor soon - but don't take any hints from Rupert, he's such a drama queen he'll only come down if he gets to show off by doing a swan dive!

you are such a dedicated mom taking care of Reuben and sticking up for him. So glad you convinced the vets to keep on helping him out. Hopefully the insulin will really help him get sorted out soon!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI'

Hi Alexa
Hungry cats know a lot of ways to wake us up! I think higher bg means their bodies are not fully utilizing the nutirtion from their food. I can't open your signature link to Reuben's spreadsheet today to see the recent patterns, looks like the link is cut off https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub - there should be more characters after that. You can also make it the same as the link to the previous condo with the square brackets url=

Reuben, enough getting HI, time to try some lower numbers now!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI'

Hi Alexa, welcome to LL! I think this is the first time I've visited your condo. Drat on that hi reading. :-x Come on down from there, Reuben. I am not able to access Reuben's spreadsheet. I think you have to do something with the Share button at the top right? I could read his profile. Wow, he is a survivor and you are a great bean. Happy Sunday!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI

Reuben - boy you iz EXTRA sweet today aren't you! How about using that juice for something besides water pretty boy!

BIG HUG Alexa - you're doing GREAT! You and Reuben will develop a pattern together as time passes, everything will get a lot easier as you both become more comfortable with this new dance. Remember - we ALL showed up here with sugar cats and Beans needing help learning it all. Keep it up, you're learnin'!!!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI

Hang in there, Alexa! Reuben will settle into this whole process, and so I hope you'll soon have less and less of those troubling "HI" readings!
You're a great, great bean!

Jane

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI

Alexa, I'm not able to view your SS as I require permission to do so. Do you have it set so that the public could view it? If I can't get in to look, it's a good chance that an experienced person can't, either.

Hang in there. This will take time for you both, and eventually it'll become part of a daily routine. You're both doing great!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI

okayyyyy, +2HI??? Noooooo!!! trying to remember to breathe right now, argh! haha, okay... so is this +2HI NDW or not? can it happen again after having a cycle with lower numbers? breaatthhhiiiinnngg :-D

thank you ALL for the visits to our condo this morning!! *HuGs*

Thank you Leslie and Angela for the heads up about the SS, it should be fixed now. let me know if it`s not plz?

wish there was a function enabling response comments directly below each comment, knwim?

lisa - he doesn`t want to come down! yikes!

tortie- nope, he`s not coming! yeah, high bg could be it, and also we manage his pancreatitis with small frequent meals so it`s just kind of his eating style... so it`s hard to know the difference sometimes!!

pip and rupert - thanks for the visit and kind words! he`s not coming down it doesn`t look like, just have to ride this out...

leslie - yeah, could be high bg hunger and/or pancreatic short eating cycles... his bg did come down last night though, so i think it was just normal hunger. today is a different story though...

ann - thanks for the welcome and kind words :-) and the heads up about the SS! it should be fixed now. yeah, my boy sure is a fighter, isn`t he?

squeaky - *Hug* back! Thanks so much for the support! Yeah, he`s just spilling sugar today!! but now he has a real chance at recovery with all the help and knowledge from you all here... we are sooo lucky!

jane - such lovely encouragment right when we need it, thank you :-) tomorrow will be better!

angela - thank you for the heads up about the SS, it should be fixed now. and we appreciate the cheering on, it`s Just what we need right now!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI

Spreadsheet opens now, good job fixing the link!
Reuben, as I told you before, time to stop getting HI!

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI +4HI

I told him you said so! but he`s stubborn and flying at +4 HI... just imagine if we could actually SEE how HI, argh!!! He`s being really active right now, I`m surprised :o

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI +4HI

Hi Alexa,

It looks to me like Reuben is bouncing in response to those nice yellow numbers yesterday and the dose increase. He'll get over it by tomorrow or the day after. I would make sure to check his ketones when he's this high though just in case.

Are you giving lots of water? Did you get a chance to look up the pancreatitis links yet? The reason I ask is because most people give fluids so you want to make sure he isn't and doesn't get dehydrated.

It sure was nice to see those yellows in response to the increase!!

Hey Reuben,
Mamabean would like to see a number on that meter.
We want you to stop walking on the ceiling and come back down and hang out with the rest of us.
Hang in Alexa, it will come.

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI +4HI

I have not visited your condo before and just wanted to say.
Reuben sure sounds like a fighter.
If you click on the quote at the right side of a previous condo it will highlight that condo and you can reply directly to it.
Hope that helps.
Come down from that HI Reuben.

Re: 8/19 Reuben amps 'HI' +2HI +4HI

Hi Alexa, I also haven't visited here before. Welcome. You've done a lot for Reuben and it looks like he is in good hands. My Neko used to bounce into a lot of "Hi" numbers when she first started seeing the lower numbers. It can be discouraging, but they do get used to the good lower numbers and then you'll be able to celebrate! I used to stop testing for few hours if I saw a "Hi".

Thank you for your visit Wendy! and for telling me that you have seen the black too - and recovered. After I got your message I stopped worrying so much, and stopped testing, and we just spent the day hydrating and resting. I`m glad to know that this won`t last forever! -Alexa

It's definitely temporary. Look at Rosy's ss. She still bounces into red and sometimes black even though she goes to green! What happens with bouncing is that they start bouncing at lower numbers and bounce lower usually. For instance, Racci now only bounces when she gets those 30's and then she'll usually bounce to high blues and low yellows whereas in the beginning she bounced into pinks constantly from even a low yellow! Tonight Racci may see yellow for her pmps because she's been bouncing all day because of the 32 yesterday.
The more they get yellows, the less they bounce from them. Reuben will get used to them and not bounce but if he gets a blue he will bounce again until he get used to the blue. Instead of bouncing to black though he may only bounce to red or pink.

BTW, I do the same and don't test as often in a bounce. I give us both a break and get the preshots and nadir and anything else is extra..

You can see that in Racci's ss though a lot of her early history and some in the middle is missing. It really isn't that long that Racci has been regulated though.

Eating and drinking well is a good sign as far as the pancreatitis goes.

Talk to you later.

We wore out several pairs of patience pants with Zener. He is definitely less bouncy than he used to be. Reuben will get there too.

Ah.. I like those words 'definitely temporary' :-) I just looked at Rosy`s and Racci`s SS's; it really does help to see those black boxes in the context of recovery.

Reuben is really much better with the pancreatitis right now, thank heavens!

So, I guess this is just my initiation into bouncing, (thank you for explaining it :-) )and we`re doing 'our way' ... up on the ceiling! hahaa, anyway, i`m not so nervous now and will be patient. QQQQQQQQQQ ---- haha the Q's are from reuben, he just sat on the keyboard :-D

Thank you for your help!
