Yesterday...

First day of cabergoline. I mixed it with his first meal.

Chino dropped ~100 mg/dL in the first 8 hours... then dropped another ~130 mg/dL over the next 4 hours!!! I gave 2 tsp MC 12% from an open can at +2 but there's a can of HC 20% on hand for the next check. Looks like it's going to be a long night.

Whoa! Slow down Chino! Was it the AM cycle you did the cabergoline?

With @Marvin's Mom - Nat we got very cautious on doses and descreased often by larger amounts or when he was close but not at a reduction point yet. There were even some back to back reductions. You might want to think about when you want to take reductions. When Neko had her SRT, I switched to 70 as the reduction point. Especially with larger doses, you don't want to have that big depot around if he suddenly needs less insulin. And Marvin's ride on cabergoline was often high speed down hill. We just don't have enough data on how it impacts kitties so caution is key.

PMPS = 154 (3rd meal LC 5%)
[13.5 units Lantus, 9th cycle since last green, 1st day on cabergoline]
+2 = 98 (2 tsp MC 12%)
+3 = 63 (2 tsp gravy from HC 20%)
+3.5 = 52 (2 tsp same)

Thanks! I think I'll take reductions at 70 as well. Should I go down to 12 units tomorrow? Or should I go down to something like 8, then increase by 1 each cycle until he has another green nadir?

You might want to do a depot draining dose tomorrow morning, maybe something like 8-9. Then go back up to a new dose of 12 and see how that goes. A normal reduction at 13.5 units would be 1 unit, so that would be a larger reduction. Depending on how tonight goes, maybe try 11.5. Chino had been seeing nadirs in the 70's in this dose, so tonight may not be the cabergoline talking yet. From what I've heard, it's not an immediate effect.

Thanks. I don't remember the last time he crashed like this...

PMPS = 154 (3rd meal LC 5%)
[13.5 units Lantus, 9th cycle since last green, 1st day on cabergoline]

+4.5 = 41/AT2: 73 (2 tsp HC 20% + 4 gtt Karo)

Dose is 0.56mg?

Yep. I noted it on his SS in micrograms (mcg).

PMPS = 154 (3rd meal LC 5%)
[13.5 units Lantus, 9th cycle since last green, 1st day on cabergoline]

+3.5 = 52 (2 tsp same)

+4.5 = 41/AT2: 73 (2 tsp HC 20% + 4 gtt Karo)
+5 = 54 (same)

It looks like he's bouncing now. Next check at +6.
