Hello!!

Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=123743&p=1284105#p1284105

Bounce! Billie had a nice green night last night, bounced up to stinky pink this morning, broke that bounce surprisingly fast with a 102 at +6, started heading up with 174 at +9.5, then bounced way up again to 364 for her PMPS.

I have a question - could I have prevented tonight's big bounce to the 300s or at least flattened her out if I had shot at +10 after I saw that she was on her way up with the +9.5 of 174? Or is that too risky?

I remember reading about someone who successfully shot on a 10 hour schedule, and I am curious about it. It seems like a lot of Billie's big bounces happen between +10 and PS. My schedule is flexible, and I am open to trying anything that might ward off her bounces and flatten out her numbers.

Thank you for any advice!

Re: 8/19 Billie PMPS 364 bounce prevention question

Unfortunately, I don't have any great advice on how to stop bounces. Let's bump your condo to the top and hopefully someone smarter can help. Hope you and Billie have a good night!!

Thanks Tara!! I know that questions about bouncing don't usually come with easy answers, but shooting early at the start of a bounce is something I haven't tried yet. I hope Buster is having a nice night!

Hi Deanna
I'm bumping you up too. Im not sure that I would want to switch to a 10 hr...but I do know a lot of peeps have steered more with food to help control the big bounces. Not sure if you have considered this option?
Looks like you are doing a fabulous job with Billie either way! :-D

Thanks Kim!! I appreciate the visit. I have tried front loading the beginning of her cycle with food, but it seems like Billie dives when she feels like diving no matter what. She gets about 4 oz of 4-6% food between PS and +4. I try to encourage her to eat about once every hour. She is a grazer, so it varies, but she is definitely getting mini meals through those hours rather than one bigger meal at the beginning of her cycle.

I'm just trying to come up with some perfect strategy to deal with bounces...and I know I'm not the only one! I was thinking that if I catch her on the way up, maybe she'll only go into the 200s instead of the 300s, or maybe she'll stay flat. But then again, sometimes she clears quickly, so maybe that would backfire if she clears and dives after I have shot early.

I think I just need to put my patience pants on.

That's the scary part...the unexpected DIVE. And all too familiar with our kitties...sigh. You're feeding schedule is above and beyond :-D I'm wondering if heading off the big fast dives with a bit more carbs would help a bit. I'm certainly no expert in the matter, but what I see when I look at her chart is a kitty that is keeping the nice numbers hanging around and just having a bit of a time getting her pancreas used to the greenies so that the reaction isn't so dramatic. Sometimes it happens quick, but for a lot of our sugar babies, it takes time....and patience. The good news is that these new patience pants they are designing actually make our butts look FANTASTIC! ;-) :-D

You already know this, but I'm going to say it again...you really are doing a fantastic job. I wish so badly that there was a perfect strategy, but because ECID and every day can be different, perfect isn't a word we get to use much.

All that being said, there may be some different theories about changing shot schedules. I just personally haven't done it, but I have lived too often through the unexpected dives and bounce breaks...scary.

We are here cheering you two on, and inspired by your commitment :YMHUG:

Thank you Kim!! That's very sweet of you to say and I really appreciate the encouragement!

I think you're right about her pancreas and liver needing to get used to the greenies. We had a very nice stretch when she was at 1.75u and seeing a lot more green between bounces. Then she earned a few reductions which was exciting, but now we're seeing more bouncing and less green.

I could experiment with some different food options earlier in the cycle. I tried that a couple times but got off track when she broke out in hives, possibly from the lobster in the 11% Wellness Chicken and Lobster that I was giving her. I'll just have to raid the pet store for non fishy MCish options...and I love a good trip to the pet store! Maybe messing with food is a better idea than messing with her depot by shooting early, especially considering her diving habits.

Billie is curled up in a very fluffy ball asleep on the bookshelf, and I am going to follow her lead since she doesn't seem to have any big plans for tonight. Thank you again for the kind words!! :YMHUG:

I agree with Kim that trying higher carbs earlier on to slow the dives is an option to try. You might want to look at Gabby's SS, and see what Sienne does to slow down that master diver. Good luck finding some acceptable higher carb fuds for Billie.

I have seen people shoot an hour early to head off a bounce, but not in the blues. I'd think a 10 hours schedule would get old fast.
