Happy Caturday all!
I was thinking to myself after Scooter's PM +4 that he was running just a little higher than he had been before his kibble binge and I might need to increase just a tiny bit. I was surprised with a 51 at +9 early this morning. I guess he doesn't want a dosecrease.

Found out Thursday that DH will have to have surgery on the vertebrae in his neck. The surgery will be done in Fort Worth, which is about two hours away from us. He will be in the hospital 2-3 days. I will have to get a sitter for the fur kids. It's just too far to try and run back and forth. I haven't been gone overnight since Scooter was diagnosed, I wasn't real big on it before then. I sure don't like it now. Besides Scooter I have Toby (civvie), Jessie (drooler), Thomas (drooler) 4 horses (is there a name for horses on here?) and the feral cat family that adopted us. I have someone in mind that I think will be quite capable of handling the whole crew. I hope she will be willing and available. I will try to get with her this afternoon and find out. We are waiting for a call to find out the exact date of the surgery. They just told us some time in the next couple of weeks.

I'm off to work. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and all the kitties surf safely!

Hi Jill. Wow, do you have a full plate with DH having surgery and you having to be gone for a few days! I sure hope the person you have in mind to take care of the crew and is willing and able. Will she be able to test and shoot insulin? If so, you found your weight in gold for a pet sitter. If sheneeds help, show her how to get online here if needed.

I had to laugh about the horse comment. I think here we just call them horses, LOL

The best of luck to DH and his pending surgery.

And glad that Scooter told you no to the dose crease this AM.

Hi Bobbie, I did not reach my potential sitter this afternoon, hopefully tomorrow. Yes, I think she will be fine testing and shooting. I don’t think she has ever dealt with a diabetic cat before, but I know she has given shots to horses (probably other animals too). I figure if she can give a shot to a 1000 lb horse, an 8 lb cat should be easy. If you can give the shot, testing shouldn’t be any harder. Scooter is very easy, he just sits in my lap, often purring, and lets me test and shoot. This young lady is absolutely amazing with animals. That said, I will probably get some of you to help me figure out a “sitter dose” when it gets closer to time. Scooter has not hit a lime green yet, but is coming very close. Monitoring often enough and deciding what to feed etc. might be a bit much. I will show her how to get on here and I should be reachable by phone at all times.
