8/18 Monty: AMPS 95, +1.75 95, PMPS 92

A snack would bring DOWN the preshot? I assumed that giving any food would only ever raise the BG.

I feed at shot times, and give snacks throughout the day when he asks for them. Usually he asks in the first half of the cycle and doesn't ask in the second half.

I know it sounds strange but when a non diabetic cat eats, the pancreas puts out insulin to deal with the food and that brings down the BG.
When a diabetic cat has a spluttering pancreas, which Monty probably does as he is down to 0.1 units......if you give them a small snack of food, hopefully the pancreas will put out some insulin and it will bring down the BG in a couple of hours time. Its worth trying.

Monty is also gaining weight at the moment so I don't want to increase his food intake overall.

Should I make his main meal smaller (to allow for another snack) and space his snacks out? He's probably going to ask for food earlier than I could give it in this case

I spread Freckles food over the course of several snacks. She doesn't get any more food, it's just spread out over the course of a day. I use an automatic feeder.
