Hope you all had a good weekend!
It's been one week since Maddy has had any insulin. I've been tinkering a bit with her feeding times to see if I can keep her below 120 for a longer portion of the day. I'll be contacting her vet to see how he thinks we should proceed, but in a previous conversation he told me that he feels treatment is successful if we can keep her below 200 most of the time. Her numbers are a bit higher than other cats around here who are OTJ. Would a small amount of insulin help get her lower? Should I wait another week?
Maddy has been happy and seems to be feeling well. Generally, I give her 1/2 can of Fancy Feast Classic at her AMPS, +6, PMPS, and a frozen half can at +2. She continues to eat the frozen fancy feast when I put it out for her before bed (no matter how much "frosting" I put on it). I'm starting to lean toward getting the automatic feeder so that she can get the food at the proper time. She also got a water fountain this morning, which she is pretty excited about.
