So long story short, my brand new gkucometer is a POS and it keeps giving me error codes. Even tried it with my own blood a few times
So do I give Kitten her morning injection before I leave for work or wait until tonight when I have a functioning meter?

No shot without a test...

Better a day too high than an hour too low.
That’s kind of what I was thinking but I know there are people who don’t home test their cats and still give the shots twice a day so I wanted to be sure. Also, my new strips seem to work in my old glucometer. I thought about trying it and seeing what kind of reading it gave me.........bad idea?

I know you don’t want to skip. I was one of those who didn’t test at first. I went to my vet every couple of days for a mid cycle. I saw a 60 and brought my meter to his office to test together and a testaholic was born! You have already had a green test. Pretend it was a fur shot. Kitten will recover from that for sure.

Not sure. I would wonder about the calibration between the 2. It could be way off. If you are curious, you could do a self test (assuming you are not also diabetic) and see what pops up. I'm not sure if that translates into a shot though.

What is the new and old meter and strips?
Yeah, I didn’t even bother trying it on myself because I just wouldn’t trust it to be accurate enough to dose Kitten. The old meter is a Henry schein vet glucometer. (Which is apparently obsolete) The new meter is a ReliOn Premier.
