Morning ~O) ~O) can never have enough ~O) Thank you for the visits, Anne & Zener, Liz, Roni, Ella, Carla and Helen and sorry I missed you last evening. I'm up so early with Maggie that by 5:00 pm I'm zonked out literally! Sometimes I like to have a glass of wine watching TV which makes me so sleepy I don't get back online to check visits and condos.
Maggie has some good news to report to Inspector Poo and Inspector Crapdash. :-D She gave a nice semi-long prezzie deposit, not too soft, just right. It does seem like the Miralax is helping, but not quite enough, so I may need to also add some Lactulose to the mix. I placed a call to the Vet yesterday afternoon to concur, but he never returned my call which is unusual, as he always returns calls. I'll chalk it up to a busy day. I was going to ask him if we need any tests to determine what's causing the constipation, as it's been over a month she's dealing with it. I know he prefers the ATrak, so her numbers may be throwing him off a bit. They don't quite understand working with the human meter, as the AT is all they ever used. Happy Friday to everyone,
Healing vines to all kitties that need them today.

Come on down Maggie! Dark blue is good but light blue is better. Nice on the poo report. :-D Hope she continues to give you prezzies and is feeling good. Weird that your vet didn't call you back. I hope you hear from him today and get some feedback. Have a great day Ann!!

Morning Ann! ~O) ~O) ~O)

WOO HOO! A successful poo report! It would be interesting to see what the vet thinks could be causing her poo problem. I'm with you - sure would be nice to know why, as this is something new, and not like it has always been an issue with Maggie. It is good to read that the Miralax seems to be working. I remember you saying your vet prefers the A-Trak, and really hope he is ok with, and understands, your switch. Hope he calls you back today. :-D

Maggie - you are looking good today. Maybe headed to the lagoon?

Enjoy your day Ann - hope it is a good one, and not too hot there. We are set to hit 95/98 today - very HOT for us.... ;-)

This is a nice surprise! It seems once she clears the constipation, her numbers come down or just a coincidence.

Hi Melissa, yes, I hope she continues with the prezzies. I hope, too, Vetty calls and gives some feedback.

Hi Michelle, thanks on the ~O) ~O) so good!!! It's been so humid I've let the walking go but still do home exercises. I have these bands I use that are neat! Yes, my Vet really prefers the ATrak, as that's all they ever used, and he's new to home testing. I'm not sure but I think Maggie may be one of his first.

Fingers crossed that you get to the, well, bottom of Maggie's constipation issue!
Happy TGIF!
:-D Thanks Jane, and Happy TGIF to you also!

Pat & Shadow, hey thanks for the link, and yes, I have been making it nice and soupy for her. She prefers chunky, but she's been eating soupy okay, too! I do see her drinking water, too. I wonder, do any of you syringe the Miralax and water? Domeone here does, but can't think of the condo.

Re: 8/17 Maggie AMPS 193; +4 135; +5 133

We had some constipation problems with Zener before we started using the Miralax and some of it was due to decreased motility in his GI system, most likely our vet thinks from the FD affecting his stomach motility. I read here in LL that Zantac could be used as an alternative to pepcid for kitties who didn't tolerate pepcid, but Zantac also aided with motility. Our combination of Zantac and 1/16t Miralax twice a day really did the trick for Zener. Also, I read in LL, that miralax absorbs water from the GI tract to work, so it's important to be sure your kitty is getting plenty of water. We started adding more to Zener's food and that seemed to help.

PMPS 180

Maggie says thank you to Poo Patrol! I love the pic, Anne. Very interesting on the decreased motility in Zener's GI system and the FD affecting it. Were there any tests that Zener had to come to this diagnosis? Maggie rarely ever needs Pepcid as it's seldom she barfs. So the Zantac and Miralax keep little Zener regular? Maggie's Vet is suggesting combination Miralax and Lactulose. She really doesn't like me touching her mouth with the syringe but gives in to it. Yes, I've been adding water to her Wellness Turkey with the Miralax. Thanks for that info.

Yeah on the poo today. Hopefully the vet can tell you what is causing it.

I hope this is just a food spike, as Mags usually doesn't start dropping until +4!

Thanks Carla for visiting us and yes, good on the poo today!

Hi Ann,

I syringe the Miralax. I give 1/4 tsp mixed with 3 syringes of water bid. I don't understand why you would add Lactulose. Why not just increase the Miralax? Sometimes Racci needs 1/4 in the morning and 1/8 at night but I never have to use anything else. I just adjust the dose.

Racci's problems are new also. The vet said they are probably from age, arthritis and the wet food only diet all combined and it is pretty common in older cats. Racci started having trouble when I switched her food.

I have to run. It's time for Racci's meds and meal. TTYL.

BTW, the miralax is tasteless so other than thinking I'm nuts for giving her water that way, Racci doesn't mind it too much.
Hugs!
Melanie & Racci
