Figaro had a streak of blue (human meter greens, actually!) the other day, bounced yesterday, and seems to be coming down! Could this be.....?? :nailbiting: Paws crossed this dose does a bit more. We may well need to increase, but I plan to hold for 10 cycles this time around.

I'm looking for a lower fat pate than Wellness, which is sooo fatty (60%). Figaro doesn't seem to know what to do with shreds, and he eats around chunks, so I think it's gotta be pate. If anyone has ideas...

I'd like to switch to homemade but, one step at a time

Whole Earth Farms duck fit our low carb and low phosphorus requirements, and is a huge hit. (The other varieties didn't have either the carb or phosphorus level I was looking for.) I ordered on Chewy because Petsmart is always out of duck. My civvies don't like the chicken or turkey or beef; just the duck. Plus WEF is less expensive than Tiki or Weruva.

Just another possibility for fluffy Figaro:cat:

I just went to the cat convention in Portland and the tiki rep. Told me that their senior tiki velvet is a little lower fat.

WEF Duck pate is no longer low carb and low phosphorous unfortunately. They changed the formula recently. I was so disappointed as that’s the food that got Missy into remission and she loved it. Have yet to find a replacement she enjoys eating...

In August, although I think you may be able to find cans of the old formula in stores if you look around. A member of the kidney disease group I’m in on Facebook made a post about it.

anyway to find out manufacture dates? sometimes it takes a few months for old stock to be used up . . . im going to the website. this could explain tigger's numbers since he gets a can of that a day!

Old cans say use by December 2020 and new cans say April 2021.

Copied this from a member: “Priya, Old formula seems to have ingredients in this order: guar gum, agar agar, flaxseed. And 5oz cans are 133 kcal per can.

New formula has guar gum, salmon oil...and agar agar further down the list.”

although legally the company is allowed to distribute the new formula with the old label on it so it might be hard to figure out which ones you have.

whats the CKD group on facebook called? i imagine theres more than one. i need alittle support right now. we're feeling a little devastated about tig's diagnosis. its so much worse than FD turned out (which we thought was terrible at first too of course but is EASY compared to CKD prognosis)

It’s called “feline chronic kidney disease”

You can always message me for advice or support. I’m sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed right now. I actually find the diabetes to be way worse than the kidney disease!
I have lots of experience dealing with ckd if you need help.
