Wow, I can't believe we made it to day 14! I just told Sammy: this is your last official PMBG test. It feels really strange, wonderful and just a little scary.

Her cough is getting worse, so I may need to take her in to the vet for antibiotics. I just hope he doesn't insist on giving her steroids. I really don't want to have to say no (Japanese culture and all), so I may have to accept them and not use them ...

I stopped the zyrtec tonight, since it doesn't seem to be working as well anymore, and will start the claritin tomorrow.

Susan!!!
Japanese can take "no". :-D You are on the customer side of the game!!
Don't pay for the meds you will not use!
Have you tried asking for a puffer (inhaler)?
It's still steroid, but much better option for FD kitties than pills because it doesn't affect the other part of the body system. (<-- this is what I was told by the vet, but please double-check!).

SUPER CONGRATULATIONS ON OTJ!!!
PARTY'S ON!!!!

Hi Again, Susan,

I found this from Ella & Rusty in a recent condo re. Allerplex. I'm thinking of trying it for Tigger's occasional cough & rumbly lungs, too. You might want to consider it in Sammy's repertoire:

We're excited about the PARTY!!!!! - GO SAMMY!!!!!!

Ella & Rusty wrote this on 8/9/13 in Tarragon's Condo:

Standard Process Allerplex (https://www.standardprocess.com/Standar ... ex0975.pdf has been around since 1959 and the company since 1929. It is an established name in homeopathic remedies. Marje told me about it and we decided to try it after Rusty's vet thought his breathing sounded worse (he apparently does not have asthma, but has always had chronic lung congestion). Marje had a 15-year old cat a while ago who was diagnosed with asthma. She did some reading and discovered Allerplex. Her kitty did remarkably well on it and lived to be 21! Allerplex is sold through health professionals. My vet ordered it for me. You can also find it on Amazon (my vet's price was the same as Amazon's).

Good luck if you decide to try it. Rusty's vet thought his breathing was much better (she saw him again after about 6 weeks). He has been taking Allerplex since February. 1 capsule a day at first; now 2 capsules a day (the vet suggested I go to 2 capsules when starting a new bottle of 150 capsules). I open the capsule and mix the contents into about a teaspoon of Beechnut Stage 1 turkey baby food and add a teaspoon of water to make a slurry. I finger-feed it as a treat (his "lung treat"). He loves it. It smells like bouillon cubes.

Marje may be able to provide you with more info.

Hope T. is doing well this afternoon,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Don't be put off by the list of rather strange ingredients. I don't think it has much of an effect on Rusty's bg.
