This is Jack's first day on Levemir! Here is my previous post: https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...-do-i-start-with-same-dose-as-prozinc.250468/
Jack was in remission for 2 years and came out of remission in May. First time around, his BG instantly responded to insulin and food change, and he went into remission in less than 3 months. This time around, it's a whole new ballgame! High and wonky BG numbers that seem unpredictable. Today is his 1st day with Levemir--switched from Prozinc. I'm hopeful that his numbers will hold more steady and I'll have him tested for a high dose/insulin resistant condition if his dose keeps increasing. I only reduced today's dose slightly from yesterday's Prozinc's dose - 5.8U on Prozinc, 5.5U today on Levemir. The last two days on Prozinc, it looked like Jack's numbers were slightly improving.
Jack has a lot of issues. The most concerning is his protruding, round, hard tummy and his muscle wasting. He needs a tooth removed but I'm opting not to put him under right now. He recently went through a flair up and had horribly runny stools for many weeks. But his stools have now been normal for a few days! It may be why his BG numbers have improved a little. Despite his problems, Jack is a very happy little boy who is extremely food motivated.
I told Jack that both of us are beginning a new adventure. I'm happy to be here in this supportive ISG!
