Yesterday's Condo

I woke up to find Gabby napping in her toy basket. And to find toys scattered from bedroom to hallway. Almost all of the Ps are in place which is normal for this time of day.

I'm hoping that some of Gabby's crazy numbers are due to her still having stitches in her mouth.

Re: 8/16 Gabby AMPS~303

it sound like gabby must of had one wild night to pass out in her toy basket ... I hope the numbers come down as soon as her stitches come out!

Re: 8/16 Gabby AMPS~303

Good morning! Sleepin' in the toys, huh? Mannie will do that, more often than not. One would think that it would be uncomfortable - I guess not. Bummer on the stitches - poor kitty! I hope she will see good numbers today - come on Gabby - you can do it!

Re: 8/16 Gabby AMPS~303

Stu often sleeps next to his "theater of mice" (a small box on its side that looks like a proscenium with mouse "actors" strewn about on the stage). And it's the first place he goes to "protect" when visitors come into the house. Gabby, we hope your mouth will be feeling better today and that you'll have really good numbers.

Hope Gabby feels better soon although it seems she had a very active night with her toys.

Re: 8/16 Gabby AMPS~303

Feel better, Gabby! Those stitches can be pretty uncomfortable... Kasha says they get kind of itchy sometimes!

Re: 8/16 Gabby AMPS~303, +2~277

Barb - they are dissolvable stitches. I'm only presuming that it's the stitches that are the issue. I know some people will run a slight fever when they have stitches in.

Given that Gabby is eating well, I'm presuming she's not in pain any more. The Fentanyl patch is off - it was due to come off yesterday. My poor kitty reeks of Skin So Soft. My vet sends a small squeeze bottle of the stuff to use to get the patch off. It was an ordeal to get that sucker off without taking skin with it. Should we need to do this again, I'm asking for bupe. No shaved patch and no struggle with what seemed to be something that was superglued to my kitty.

Coming down nicely, Miss Gabby. Sounds like she's feeling pretty good with the attack on the toys last night.

Sienne, I know you are feeding Feline Future. How do you prepare it? I've just been hand chunking boneless skinless chicken thighs, adding liver and heart if I can get it. I usually find heart and giblet packages. I assume the giblet are OK to feed too? I guess i really want to know how you warm it up for serving? I've been warming the dish and then adding warm water, but I worry about water being too hot and cooking it. Also do you have any idea on the carb%? I don't feed the raw when Tess's number are low.

You can PM me , but I thought others might be wondering about starting raw too.

Poor Gabby, stitches in her mouth!Hope she comes down and feels better soon.

Don't think Savannah could fit in her toy box...we are actually thinking of getting a bigger bed since she spreads out so much at night now!

OK Barb -- no rotten tomatoes but you should know that Goo Gone is basically lighter fluid. I'm not putting THAT on my kitty! I now know I don't like the smell of the Skin So Soft either. Mineral or olive oil would have worked.

Ann - When I make raw, I grind 3 parts boneless, skinless chicken thigh (that I trim almost all of the fat from) and 1 part skinless boneless chicken breast with chicken livers. Where I get my chicken, it's easier to get liver than the giblets. I do leave some of the chicken a bit chunky but the majority is ground using the attachment to my stand mixer. I measure out 1/4 cup patties and freeze them. I try to keep the surface area of the ground chicken exposed to air for as brief a time as possible (it's why I don't buy already ground meat) and it's why I freeze it immediately -- it reduces the potential for bacterial contamination. It also reduces the potential for spoilage especially since dark meat will spoil more quickly. I defrost the patties in the microwave and add warm water when I'm getting ready to serve meals.

I'm glad to see that Gabby came down some today...a steady slow drop is good! I hope her widdle mouf feels better. Spot had the stitches in his mouth also after his three extractions. Didn't seem to bother him to much, to.
How cute...taking her toys out of her box so that she can sleep there! Civvie Ralph will have those evenings where he takes several stuffed friends out of the toy basket and I find them scattered all around the house, sometimes up to three on the bed. He usually does this thing where he walks around the house making these gosh awful noises with the toy in his mouth. Usually does this while I'm sleeping tho!

Re: 8/16 Gabby PMPS~249, +2~125

Thanks Sienne, That's pretty much what i do, butTess seems to like the chunks, it's good for her teeth and easier for me. Do you have any idea on the carbs or extra calories added by the powder?

I thought I read not to microwave, but maybe that was for ground bones. The microwave would make thawing a lot quicker.

Re: 8/16 Gabby PMPS~249, +2~125

I'm guessing the carbs are around the carb count for Feline's Pride - approx. 4%. There's not much in the powder that's high in carbs.

I TOLD YOU that f-patch (f standing for both words here) was difficult to peel off! I felt so bad for Cosmo.
