Meowzi has now been extra-sweet for four years! She was dx'ed on 8/15/06, while we were in the middle of a camping trip. Dr B left us a msg confirming the dx  but said not to worry, FD was very manageable and we'd start by putting her on a really good insulin and switching her to canned food. So she started Lantus two days later, and went OTJ in less than 3 months. She fell off the OTJ bandwagon a year after that, and we've been on Lantus and then Levemir since.
Some may think 4 years of being an extra-sweet kitty may not be something to celebrate; we disagree. Without FD, we would not have found FDMB, would not have learned as much as we have about feline health, and would very likely have lost her to mammary cancer sometime in the last two years. Instead, *because* of FD, our bright-eyed, perky-eared, purry, furry, velvet-pawed ruler of the household continues to thrive, and, together with her little sister Cali, fill our lives with love and joy. cat_pet_icon
