Meowzi has now been extra-sweet for four years! She was dx'ed on 8/15/06, while we were in the middle of a camping trip. Dr B left us a msg confirming the dx  but said not to worry, FD was very manageable and we'd start by putting her on a really good insulin and switching her to canned food. So she started Lantus two days later, and went OTJ in less than 3 months. She fell off the OTJ bandwagon a year after that, and we've been on Lantus and then Levemir since.

Some may think 4 years of being an extra-sweet kitty may not be something to celebrate; we disagree. Without FD, we would not have found FDMB, would not have learned as much as we have about feline health, and would very likely have lost her to mammary cancer sometime in the last two years. Instead, *because* of FD, our bright-eyed, perky-eared, purry, furry, velvet-pawed ruler of the household continues to thrive, and, together with her little sister Cali, fill our lives with love and joy. cat_pet_icon

Thank you WCF for all that you do for us... :YMHUG:

Happy 4th Anniversary of being an extra-sweet kitty Meowzi & WCF for being a wonderful mom :YMHUG:

There is definitely a special bond that is formed and they seem to know you are helping them feel so much better. So, in return they give us that little extra sweetness.

Until . . . they are OTJ, I have been telling Milo for the last couple months when he is official OTJ he can stay out longer and later. So, last night he never showed up till 11:00 and this morning he was out the door with out even eating his breakfast or giving me my morning snuggle.

WCF, I just met you but you have been such a blessing with your knowledge and willingness to help people that you don't even know. I know your sweet kitties will give you many more years of happiness while you continue to inspire and help the rest of us!!

THANK YOU WCF AND MEOWZI!!

Happy Anniversary Meowzi and WCF! Your story is indeed an inspiration. And thank you, WCF, for taking so much time to help Stu (+4 years diabetic) with his 2 new diagnoses. I agree that we all are so lucky to have found FDMB. And Stu and I are especially lucky to have your expert advice!
Enjoy your anniversary, Meowzi, and have a great new year ahead!

Ella & Stu

happy annifursary!!!

I have to agree, while nobody wants to hear the FD diagnosis, there is so much good that comes out of being on FDMB. There is so much knowledge to gain and to share, and wonderful people and many extra-sweet kitties. I was talking with someone the other day about how strange it is to feel so close to people I have never met, and some whose real names I don't even know. But it's true, and I know that almost everyone here would come to my aid if I needed it.

Meowzi is an amazing kitty, she looks so sweet, but when you know about all the things she has fought through, she's just amazing.

Congratulations Meowzi! And CF, thank you for being one of the good people - I have a ton of respect for you and so appreciate all of the help you've offered to so many. You two are an inspiration.

Happy Annifursay, Meowzi. That was a very touching post, Choy-Foong. Beautifully said. If it had not been for you finding FDMB, and learning so much about feline health, and being willing to help others (like me), then Bear Man might not be here today, so Meowzi's Dx has been a blessing in disguise for others as well.

And yours is one of the most amazing sugar dances I have ever read and followed.

Your dedication and determination is greatly admired as well as the time and effort you have put in to helping others.
Your knowledge is awesome!!!! So I most certainly say a heartfelt thank you to Meowzi for being a sugar kitty, cos without it, many of us wouldn't have benefitted from your knowledge, help and support

Happy Sugar Dance Anniversary (((WCF,Meowzi and Poppabean)))

Happy Anniversary!! What a wonderful post. I love your stories and videos about Meowzi. You have amassed an incredible amount of knowledge. It is amazing what FD teaches us. It is equally amazing the kinds of relationships it allows us to forge both with our kitties and with each other.

HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY TO YOU AND MEOWZI!

It is true that we all have a special bond and learn so much from each other. I would'nt have found FD either if it was'nt for Sara's DX. Just shows there is always a silver lining. And I've learned so much more than just about diabetes.

Many more happy years to you Meowzi and Cali. They sure are lucky kitties having you as a bean. :-D

Happy 4th year annifursary WCF and Meowzi!

And thank you for being a wealth of information to our special kitties.
I've seen you're posts to others and am so grateful you take the time to help others.

((((hugs)))

Happy Anniversary to your sweet furry purry. So glad you and Meowzi are part of this community. You bring a wealth of knowledge to the board, but not only that - you treat everyone with respect and concern, and your love of animals shows through it all.

Happy 4 Year Anniversary

You have a great story. I also wish you would post more often.....I miss you.
Thank you for being my mecical dictionary. You have helped so many with your wealth of knowledge and I have learned a lot from you.

Wow, 4 yrs of doing the dance. We salute you, we celebrate you and Meowzi. Thank you for the help that you have offered during our almost 2 yrs of dancing. I hope Meowzi continues to thrive.

Happy 4 years to you! You have a wonderful attitude, WCF! Meowzi is here and happy, purring and thriving. What's a little FD dance? Thank you for your perspective. It really touched me.

Oh gosh. Thank you everyone for your well wishes, no wonder Meowzi has been purring all night :) I, on the other hand, am blushing  - this thread isn't about me, it's about FDMB and well, my little princess' annifursary. But thank you anyway. You all do know that credit goes to all of you, right? - for making the effort to find this community, and for doing all you have done for your kitties. And to the beans and furries who came before us. There is a tremendous collection of information and shared experiences archived on the old board, that I spent a lot of time poring over in that one year Meowzi was OTJ. Helping out where I can is my way of paying it forward, in tribute and gratitude to those wise ones who were so generous with their time, knowledge and experience.

What a sweet post about Meowzi"s & your journey. And thank you for checking in on Blackie and me. I did talk to a couple of pharmacies here and they said they never sell the fluids. But I'll check with one of the others and see what they say.

Thank you for this, WCF. We are new to LL but not to FD. Ollie has been extra sweet for 2 years. We love him more everyday. Nicely said and good timing....we needed a little pep talk.

Best,
Klaree and Ollie
