Or take off their glasses and look from a distance. ;-)
Lucian had a bad problem with spiking the last couple hours of a cycle, on Lantus, I don't mean a bounce, I mean 300 pts in an hour or 2, putting up to 5-600+. I tried using R to combat that and it helped a quite a bit, but required even more testing ( like every 30 mins for 2 hrs) and an additional injection. It became apparent that Lantis did not work long enough and that's when I switched to Lev, but I would not have known what he was doing and why, if I had not been able to do the multiple end of cycle tests.
Snoball doesn't have any of the severe issues that Lucian had, at least not that I see, so not being able to test 12 times a day is not a big deal IMO. I think Sno acts like the 'normal' sugar kitty and will get squared away before long without the desperate measures that it took for Lucian.
Preshot tests, one before bed, whatever time that is and any time you can sneak in another is fine for work days, you do what you can and that's all that is expected. Personally, I don't see the need for a curve every weekend, they usually recommend every 2 weeks or so, depending on how he's responding. Me? Never did a curve such as everyone expects, because Lucian was so crazy. I did 1 curve that consisted off a test every hour for the 12 hr cycle and have never done another. As much as I test, it isn't needed. It is important to those that work and can't test often to do every 2-3 weeks, just to know exactly what he's doing and when. That way you know if he needs a reduction or increase or if there is something else you need to address.
You have to understand, my experience is NOT the norm, my experience is with Lucian.
