Good Morning and Happy Sunday!

Luci has been doing well - up to her old antics of getting into things that she shouldn't! I was baking a birthday cake (yes, it was for me!)...its the one time of year that I'll bake a cake - and well I don't care - I'm going to eat some cake on my birthday!

And I went outside after putting the batter in the pans and getting them in the oven, just briefly turning my attention to something else for a few minutes, came back in and there she was jumping down from the counter and licking her chops with cake batter stuck on her whiskers!!! Rrrrgggghhhh...I should have known better than to leave the kitchen without covering that bowl! So it was an early birthday celebration for Luci!

DH is improving with each day and yesterday rode his bike up and down the street! He's anxious to get back to his bicycling! I'm anxious for him to get back to everything else! ha!

So here are a couple of pics of Luci - she gets up on the counter now to wait for her test - DH couldn't really pick her up so he has had to teach her to get up there by herself - her lessons are going very well!

Hope you have a great birthday, Sue. Your cake is a masterpiece. Looks so good! Funny that Luci would want to eat cake batter. So glad to hear hubby is doing well. Luci looks good. Life is good!

Happy birthday Sue! Who knew you were such a great baker! Beautiful cake.

Yes, I love to bake, but having it in the house is a problem! For me AND Luci! I had a piece and have managed to distribute the rest of it to friends and family - so there's no more temptation for either of us. Luci is such an addict...I just can't believe the stuff she'll eat!!

Hope you are doing well!

Happy Belated Birthday Sue.
Aww look at Lucy just waiting to be tested, such a good girl
The cake looks delicious, I just love Chambord liquor!
I would have had to give the rest away too, I would have eaten the whole thing
Happy to hear your husband is so much better
Have a good day :cat:

It's a strawberry cake, filled with homemade strawberry jam (from a friend) and Chambord liquor. Nice to have once a year :)
Do you ship your cakes? That looks fabulous and I know adding the liquor really makes it taste great. Poor me, for my birthday, I had a ding dong with vanilla ice cream on top and a splash of Kailua over it.

Happy "Belated" Birthday Sue!!! :bighug::bighug: So happy to see your cake was given a stamp of approval by Luci :p, it is a beautiful cake. Glad to hear Bill is bicycling and hopefully not feeling so bored. Nice AMPS for Luci and great numbers yesterday. Hope things with your mom are okay. Is it time to pack up?

Wishing all of you a lovely Sunday with naps and a good book to read in the Gazebo

Surf Safely Luci  love the pictures

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

(just realized I wrote you on your Birthday but left off the "Happy Birthday" )

Those photos! Adorable little pear position on the counter!
Happy Birthday, and that cake looks incredible. Will you post the recipe? How many cake tins do I need to scrounge up to make that masterpiece?

Three layers - but I only had two in that size - so you bake two layers, then chill; bake the last layer and let that chill as well. Slice the layers horizontally and add your filling to the cut side, reassemble; then put your frosting between the layers after chilling each layer - it really helps the cakes stabilize if you allow time for chilling between each step.

This is a cake I made for New Year's a couple of years ago - 12 layers. I liked that one better - filled with chocolate ganache.

Oh my goodness sakes. That is one incredible cake, Sue. You should have your own bakery! Am I missing something here? Aren't you a professor at a Michigan University? You have a wonderful home on the west coast of Florida during the winter and you CAN BAKE. Lady, I think you have it all!

Happy Birthday Sue! Glad I popped on to see your master pieces! What a baker you are! Hope your day was wonderful and that the batter didn’t spike Little Miss Luci!

You are quite the baker. I hope the cake was Delish. Happy Birthday, Sue. Luci looks adorable, and all the mischief is a good sign! Very happy to hear that your husband is doing so well! All good.
