Now sure if I trust this number at all. It took four strips and three error messages and several pricks of the ear to get the meter to give me a number.

Her +3 was down to 190 and she vomited two hours after she ate her morning meal.

I hate this for her. :(

Calley has vomited three times today and her numbers are all over the place.....not that I believe any of them to be honest. AMPS was 413....then +3 was 190 and now +7 is 349. I have not fed her much since she keeps vomiting.

Nothing is working for her. I don't know what to do to help her. :( So discouraged.

oh Kristin
i'm so sorry. i hope she settles down and feels better tomorrow. hugs :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I hope so too. She keeps following me around wanting me to feed her and I don't want to....don't want to have more vomit mess. :(

Sorry that the vomiting is back. :( You said she had a hairball the other day, right? Does she get any hairball treatment regularly? That might be a simple thing to start up to rule that out as a factor. I have one cat who pukes 5-7 times a week and it's because she has trouble getting hairballs up. When we're good at either grooming her or giving her vaseline, she pukes much less.

Try not to fixate on high PS numbers. Remember, the nadir is the only number that really matters (as long as you're not riding high all the time) and 190 is great!

Would the vomit be food like it if was caused by a hairball? I have seen some fur mass come up a few times...but mostly her vomits are food looking and very runny. Not what I would associate with fur balls? But then she never had many fur balls.

I'm afraid to give her anything else new ......I'm afraid any new thing would compound her vomiting. :(

Yeah I was happy for a few days without vomiting. Not sure what caused today's issues.

And ok...i'll try to look at the nadir only. However I won't be taking nadirs any more after Sunday. So how will I gage how she is doing without the nadir?

If all you're getting during the week is preshots then on a weekend you'll need to run a curve where you test every 2 hours from shot to shot.

When my cats are working on a hairball that won't come up, they throw up whatever is in their stomach, so yes, it can be foamy if their stomach is empty, but it's food at whatever stage of digestion it's in if it's still present in the stomach when they start the retching.

Since you've been to the vet and they don't have any clue as to what it might be, if she were my cat I'd start treating her for chronic hairball problems and see if that helps.

A little bead of petroleum jelly a day is one option, or there are tons of cat-specific formulations that have flavoring. One of my cats does well with butter as a treatment, though I've read that's not supposed to work (it does on her though and she likes it much better than the vaseline).
