Can anyone tell me how long will an open can of MC gravy last? I feel like two days? I have part of an open can from last night in the fridge. I want to keep it as long as I can incase i need it. I figure give it to the other cats as a treat before it goes bad.

Good morning, Steven. Oreo did have a very good day yesterday. That food list Diane gave you yesterday can be very helpful. In fact, when I go to Publix (which is not very often with COVID) I will take the Fancy Feast sections with me so I can look for the pates (of course) for low carb and then pick out several m/c and h/c cans to always have on hand. Then I take them home and mark the carb % of the m/c and h/c on the top of the cans with a black marker. I have a special section of shelving in my pantry and I organize my m/c and h/c separately. All my l/c cans get put into a plastic container. I don't bother to mark them because I know they are all l/c. Anyway, by organizing like this, I just go to the section I need (m/c or h/c) and can grab a can in a pinch when I need to raise Susie's glucose. Hope this helps a little.

I keep mine for three days in the fridge and then I toss. I also mark the side of the can with a black marker with the date I opened it. That way I will not use a can that is older than three days. So far, I haven't made Susie sick with this plan and I hate to toss good food.

This is a great idea. I’ve already made an area for them and will mark them the same way. ;)

Yea I do t want to waste it either. Between the other 4 cats and the dog. Someone’s getting a treat. Maxx is has snuggling up with Oreo a lot lately. He knows how to act cute when he wants something. The others are vultures and have to go in the Florida room while Oreo eats. :cat:

I like all your kitties names but forgot most of them. You said you have Oreo, Maxx, Pancake and what were the other two kitties? Oh, and a Cockapoo? Is that a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle? Must be hard having to feed 5 cats and making sure Orea doesn't get into the other cats food. And, vice versa. I have always had more than one cat in my household until now and I am kind of relieved that I don't have to worry about Susie getting in to another cats food. I do have to keep the dogs away though. Good that Oreo has a snuggle partner.

Oreo 13, Blossom 10, Maxx 8, Pancake 6, Peanut 3. And Pretzel is 2 year old cocker spaniel poodle. Pretzel is good boy he listens and lets Oreo eat and knows if he waits I’ll put the tiny bits in his bowl. Maxx doesn’t like Pretzel but they give space. Everyone else gets along good.

Love the picture and all the names. My goodness. What is the term? "Crazy Cat Lady". I think you are the "Crazy Cat Dad". :D Bless you for having so many sweet babies. Makes for an entertaining life - doesn't it? You are lucky for the most part that they all get along. Next time you get the chance I'd love to see a picture of Pretzel. I have a golden retriever, Molly Pop, and a crazy foxhound, Kali. Also, I have an African Gray. I live with my 90 year-old Mom and she has a cockatiel. We also have a bunch of ducks that hang around. We are animal folks, too. Did you manage to get the glue off of Oreo?

Love animals! Dabbing olive oil and letting him do the work licking it.

Hey everyone. Oreos at 55 +6 he’s has no snacks today yet. I’m thinking I would test in another hour? And see if we are at this level? Or do I need to perk that sugar up a little and give him a snack?

I think it's time for a little of that medium carb FF grilled fish with gravy that you've got. You want to keep him steady and surfing and not go too low as the Levemir has just started onset. Basically a repeat of last night.

ok snack time!! I feel like this diet change is working wonders. Right? I’m I getting prematurely excited?

With that 55, you will want to reduce his insulin again to .1 units. He’s doing really well but his numbers aren’t quite ready for remission yet. There are images in the insulin sticky at the top of the forum list of what .1 looks like in the syringe.

I saw them last night. :bookworm:. I was using the search button, looking at others threads. And all the other threads. I’m feeling so much less overwhelmed. I couldn’t comprehend this site, instructions two days ago.

So tomorrow I have a medical procedure. I usually dose 7am but my procedure is at 945. There will be no one home while I’m away for probably 5 hours. I need to game plan for this. I think and fingers crossed I’ll be alert when I get home. But you never know with anesthesia. I’m thinking we will be having to skip his AMPS.
@PerfumedCatMom

Do you have an auto feeder? I'm sorry I don't remember if you mentioned that. When do you have to leave the house tomorrow and when will you return?

What do you think about tonight? I think can wing it. I just not feeling good from having to fast. It’s hard to fast being diabetic. This is crazy

Let’s see the pmps and decide. Oreo is looking really good. I’d hate for you to skip both tonight and tomorrow morning but if too low you might need that n
Yea. I’m going to push thru tonight if we need/can dose. I’ll be up periodically anyway to check him.

Steven, you are diabetic too? You take care. Hard to believe they won't let you eat something until at least midnight if you are diabetic.
Yea. Fortunately I’m controlled with a daily pill and weekly injection. Although I should have asked if I should have taking my injection on Friday. I’m managing by drinking sugar diluted beverages and drinking bone broth. Fun times I’ll tell ya :nailbiting::p

Well, best of luck tomorrow. My husband was diabetic and had daily shots. I guess medicine has come a long way since then - thank God.

Thank you everyone
Oreo PMPS is 138. I’ll go ahead and feed him his PM meal. And when let me know as to dose

@tiffmaxee Steven, I think you are supposed to go ahead and reduce to .1 unit tonight. He is high enough at PMPS to do the shot but does need the reduction based on his numbers today. Hopefully, Elise (@tiffmaxee) will step in to confirm. Don't forget tomorrow morning not to shoot if you are going to be gone for the entire morning and early afternoon. Our slogan on this site is "Better to be high for a day than low for a minute". Good luck tomorrow and hopefully Elise will confirm all of this with you.
