Georgia and Simon (GA)

Simon dropped low last night but came up really quickly so I was able to get some sleep. He is back into the yellows. I think he is experiencing some constipation so I am starting him on some Miralax. I am missing his happy dance in the morning and just put 2 and 2 together. I am a bad bean because I didn't notice earlier. I am just too preoccupied with Cleo's problems.

Cleo is going in for her U/S today to see what is going on. All prayers, and healing vines are appreciated today. DH is bringing her in about 12:00 because I can't get off work and then I will pick her up in the afternoon. U/S will be done around 2:30.

Re: 8/14 Simon AMPS 265 u/s for Cleo today

Hi Geoegia, sending lots of good Vetty vines for Cleo's u/s today. I hope the Miralax does its job with Simon. Maggie's familiar with that problem lately. Keep us posted on Cleo. Scritches and headbutts to both from us.

Morning Georgia - Mannie and I send many good vetty vines for Cleo and her U/S. I hope all is well. Simon - maybe some blues for your bean today? That would make her very happy.

Hugs from all of us. I hope your day goes well today.

(((Georgia))) You are a great bean and are wonderful with Simon and Cleo. I feel the same way sometimes, when I figure out something that our kitties need. Hindsight IS 20/20. Paws crossed and sending good vetty vines for Cleo's U/S.

Re: 8/14 Simon AMPS 265 u/s for Cleo today

We are back from the vet. Cleo has a touch of pancreatitis and for some reason, her spleen is enlarged. The vet did an aspiration and they are sending it out for testing. Apparently, this is more common in dogs. I didn't get to talk with Cleo's vet but had to talk with another one in the practice. She said that an enlarged spleen could mean different things, so I need to wait until the tests come back. Does anyone know anything about an enlarged spleen?

The vet also said that the only thing else I can do for the pancreatitis is put Cleo on a bland diet. She is already taking pepcid and ondansetron. I just don't know too much about pancreatitis. Does anyone have any advice and what type of food to feed instead of the kidney food? She hates that stuff. She is eating it tonight because she was starving. She was such a good girl at the vet and now she has a cute shaved belly.

One good piece of news: Simon left me a big present in the lb when I returned from picking up Cleo! :-D

Re: 8/14 Simon PMPS 261 Back from vet with Cleo

Hi Georgia, so sorry about Cleo's pancreatitis and enlarged spleen. We're sending some healing vines to your sweet Cleo. On the pancreatitis, both Leo and Punkin are very recently diagnosed, so they can help you and also Rusty in the past had pancreatitis. I'm sure you will get a lot of help. I hope others will weigh in on the spleen. Glad Simon left some prezzies. Hugs

Re: 8/14 Simon PMPS 261 Back from vet with Cleo

Hi Georgia - I can't help much with the pancreatitis, but Punkin and Leo are dealing with it -perhaps they can help. I can send a ton of healing feel better vanes though! and no clue on the spleen.

Hope you have a good evening. Simon: well done with the prezzies!

Re: 8/14 Simon PMPS 261 Back from vet with Cleo

I'm sorry about Cleo's diagnosis, but now you have an answer. I'm sure if you put "pancreatitis" in your subject line, you'll get tons of help!

Many "feel better" prayers are heading her way!!

Re: 8/14 Simon PMPS 261 Back from vet with Cleo

Pancreatitis - ouch! Supposed to be very painful. What test did they run? I'm sure others with expertise/experience will have input. Seems like I remember pepcid (2.5 mg BID) and bupe for the pain (you'll need a script from the vet for that one). Poor Cleo, I hope she feels better soon. Good work on those prezzies, Simon.

Re: 8/14 Simon PMPS 261 Back from vet with Cleo

So sorry about the pancreatitis and enlarged spleen for poor Cleo. Did they give any pain killers? Tarragon was on Bupe. It can be pretty painful. Our vet had suggested rice and chicken. Hugs to you and sweet Cleo!!

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes for my sweet Cleo.

I don't know why the vet that was on duty didn't give me any bupe. I am going to call tomorrow and ask about it. I hate that I didn't get to talk to Cleo's vet because I think I would have asked lots more questions. I feel so much more comfortable with him.

Thanks again for sending all the healing vines. Simon seems to have picked up on them with a nice green number tonight.

I'm so sorry Cleo is sick! Sending her healing vines.

She needs bupe for pain, fluids for dehydration, ondansetron if she is nauseous, cerenia for any vomiting, Pepcid only if she acid tummy which I believe she does for her CKD, and if she eats on her own...whatever she will eat.

Please let us know how she's doing.

I think a bland diet is also a thing of the past. Too much fat can cause upset. Focus on the calories and assist feed her (finger feed, syringe feed, spoon feed) to get her through this. I'm sorry she is dealing with this. Pancreatitis is extremely painful so I hope you manage to get bupe. Keep an eye on her hydration also.

Sending you and Cleo hugs.
