Good morning, LL!
Yesterday
AMBG 74. He's +23 since his last shot. He's had a ton of energy, but not much of an appetite, although I've been letting him graze on his food throughout the night. Last night he only ate about 1/2can FF, yesterday morning probably 3/4can, but he definitely hasn't earned a membership to the Clean Plate Club.
I know I keep asking every post if I should dose or not, but when he hasn't had any insulin in 24hrs and has eaten at least 1.5cans of food during that time... Is he trying to tell me something? :-D

Re: 8/14 Mr. Howell +23 74... to shoot, or not to shoot?

He just may be.   We'll be watching to see what the AMBG is!

Re: 8/14 Mr. Howell +23 74... to shoot, or not to shoot?

I should have clarified -- I need some serious ~O) ~O) ~O)
The 74 was his AMBG; Yesterday morning he was shot at 9a.m., and I have him on an 8a.m./pm schedule. I was planning on shooting him at the +23.5 so I could move him back.
He ate about 1/2can FF since then, so he's +24 101 now.

Re: 8/14 Mr. Howell +23 AMBG 74, +24 101

it's up to you. Usually we find it beneficial to wean off the insulin more slowly (Mr. H was on 1.5 units just a week ago). He definitely seems to have some pancreas action going on, but usually we try to support the newly functioning pancreas for as long as we can by giving a drop of insulin for a while before stopping. It gives the pancreas a chance to heal fully before removing the training wheels. It's your call, though. Mr. Howell might be able to hold these numbers without support.

Re: 8/14 Mr. Howell +23 AMBG 74, +24 101, +27 42

Thank you Libby! I wanted to shoot, but I also wanted to see if he was going to bounce up high on this cycle. I am glad I didn't. He ate 1/2can FF Chicken at AMBG and is working on the other 1/2 right now --
+27 42...
I am glad I decided against it, but a little concerned that he can bring himself that low on his own!

Re: 8/14 Mr. Howell +23 AMBG 74, +24 101, +27 42

that may be a normal number for him. i've seen a couple of people with non-insulin-dependent cats say their cats get into the 40's on their own.

sounds like you're starting another OTJ trial. that would make your life a little easier, wouldn't it? i hope you got to sleep all night last night!

Re: 8/14 Mr. Howell +23 AMBG 74, +24 101, +27 42

Shh Julie, I don't wanna jinx it, it's not an OTJ trial... I'm just going to be giving a LOT of fur shots over the next few cycles! Don't wanna get my hopes crushed!
I'm getting my sleep back! :-D I actually could wake up and fall back asleep without panicking that Mr. Howell was going to crash -- but then I had a dream early morning that we were taking care of a tiny kitten, and it started exhibiting DKA symptoms! And then I couldn't find my test strips! :o And then I realized... we don't have a tiny kitten!

I know you didn't want to call this just yet... but ... I do see some interesting numbers here!

I will send more information via PM. :-D

I was a little afraid at his AMBG# - 117. nailbite_smile I didn't know if I should shoot, or wait, so I waited.. and SO HAPPY I did once again!
+39 59   :-D  :RAHCAT :RAHCAT
