OK, so Morris & I have been hiding again for a couple weeks...sorry, but life gets in the way some times! I have finally had a chance to update his spreadsheet though! I have not tested him yesterday or today as I ran out of strips!!! UGH!! I will be heading to the store for more today.

I took Morris to the vet yesterday for his yearly checkup. My vet looked at his teeth & then showed me...he DEFINATELY needs a dental! While doing his exam, she discovered that Morris has a slight heart arrhythmia! When she was listening to his heart the first time, she heard this arrhythmia twice. When she tried to listen for it again later during his exam, she did not hear it again. I will be posting over on health to find out more about this, but it could cause complications for him having anesthesia. I doubt my husband will agree to spend the small fortune it would cost for Morris to see a cardiologist (not to mention, it would also involve a long & costly ferry ride to the mainland for this). It sounds like my vet would be willing to do a dental for Morris even with this arrhythmia, but she wants to prepare me that things may go wrong because of this.

Unfortunately, we could not get his labwork done yesterday because the silly boy urinated during the short trip from the exam room to the back room where they take the lab samples! We have made an appointment to go back next Thursday to have all his labwork drawn.

The rest of his checkup was very good! His weight is holding steady at 6.12kg or 13.49lbs....my vet says this probably slightly more than his ideal weight, but with his diabetes factored in, it is probably a good weight for him...we just don't want him getting any heavier than this. He was also given his yearly combo vaccine for panleukopenia, calicivirus & phinotracheitis; his rabies vaccine is not due again until Aug 2012.

I hope the slight heart arrhythmia is very slight and he does just fine during his dental.
Silly boy for peeing before they could get some pee with a needle. He's no dummy, he knew what was coming.

Best of luck for good results when he gets all his lab work done. And safe vibes for the dental.

Nice to see Morris' cute face today....hope you have better luck on Thursday for the lab work, they seem to know don't they? LOL.
Hope you were able to get your tests strips....will look for an update later!
Good boy Morris!

When you post on Health about the arrhythmia, find out if he should be given an antibiotic a few days in advance of a dental. This is fairly standard for humans when they have a cardiac issue and undergoing even a routine dental cleaning.

I know this is not going to make you happy but it makes me very nervous to see you shoot a 43 and have no other tests until PMPS. Ditto for shooting a PMPS number in the 70s, seeing a drop at +1 and no further tests -- especially with an AMPS the next day in the reds. Morris most likely dipped very low overnight. Morris is your cat and it's your choice to do this but I do want to underscore that it's dangerous.
