For the past few days, Maddy tests at a higher BG reading before her first meal of the day and then dips back down into the normal range within a few hours. I'm still holding off on insulin until she stays above 150.

I'm not quite sure how to interpret what her levels are doing. She gets fed four small meals per day at 8:30am, 2:30pm, 8:30pm, and 10:30pm. Her longest stretch without food is during the night. It could be the case that she's still adjusting from having food available all to the time, and not being able to graze is stressing her out at night.

I'm going to aim to get a BG reading every 6 hours today, so the 2:30am test might help solve the mystery.

The pancreas secrets insulin when triggered by food intake so providing her an overnight snack might help. Easy way is either a timed feeder or freezing the food and putting it down frozen so she can nibble as it thaws.

Thanks, Mel! I'll try it tonight.

If you solved the mystery of her high morning numbers and the problem of being woken up thorough the night by Maddy's attempts to get me to feed her, you'll be my hero forever!
