I'm not liking these numbers. I don't know if Gabby's running in higher numbers because she's got the sniffles and is sneezing or if it's a result of changing syringes. I switched from Monoject to Terumo syringes and I don't think the measurement is the same. I'm kicking myself for changing. There seem to be fewer problems with bubbles with the Terumo's, though. OTOH, I'm going out of town for a few days so having Gabby in higher numbers since she won't let my very competent, vet tech cat sitter test, is a lot safer.

If Gabby is feeling punk, she's not been acting like it. She woke me up about 30 min. before the alarm settled in for maximum attention, and the purr engine was on full throttle.

Aw come on down Gabby. Sorry about the pinks. Yuck. I agree about the pet sitter though. At least Gabby doesn't seem to be fazed by it. Have a great day Sienne!

I noticed with Poe that sometimes he has a bit of a runny nose...mostly just tiny wetness you can see. Sometimes his eyes will be a bit runny, but it's not something that happens very often and I'm thinking for him it's asthma/allergies related. He sometimes has the sneezes, just once maybe twice a day, for a few days in a row, and then its gone.

Because I have to pretty much keep the place closed up and the ac running, I'm wondering if it's related to that.

It amazes me how something simple like a syringe change can be disruptive.

Those numbers are not great, Gabby, but very sweet that you woke your bean up with purrs. :-D :-D We've had major problems with bubbles in the monoject syringes too.

Sorry about Gabby's numbers, too.., and the sniffles. Is the lysine making it any better? I guess the good note here is that you won't worry she'll go low with the sitter. Here's hoping for a nice high level blue compromise!

It was my experience that the Monojects delivered consistently more insulin than the Terumos. I think it is because insulin "hides" in the cone, so your dose is more than you think it is. Terumos don't have a cone, so what you see is what you get. When I switched I tried to "translate" the Monoject dose into "Terumo", but it was never entirely accurate because the amount of insulin in the cone of the MJ differed from syringe to syringe. At the time I switched from MJs to Terumos I was also learning how to use the calipers. Of course, you cannot directly compare the caliper measurements because the MJs have a fatter barrel than the Terumos. At the time, I was giving Rusty 1.5 units on the Monojects and this worked out to approximately 2.22mm on the Terumos. But is is a bit of trial and error at first. The only thing I am certain of is that I was giving Rusty more insulin than I thought I was when I was using the Monojects.

"Perfect Terumos are also few and far between (the lines are all over the place). But if you use the calipers and measure from the plastic disc, rather than the zero line, you can get an accurate measurement. Then it is just a matter of figuring out what your dose should be when measured with calipers on the Terumos :lol:
