@Tomlin Thank you for all of your insight and sharing your experiences with me. I’ll talk to Ruby’s oncologist but I think the safest thing right now is to keep trying with the BID dosing of pred and increasing the insulin. Ruby’s GI symptoms seem to do better on twice a day—she would stop eating in the PM cycles when she didn’t get her pred, and small meals throughout both cycles is better for the insulin. Just got 5 more pens of Lantus from Mark’s Marine, so we’re ready.

Hope everyone has a great day and surf safely kitties! :bighug:

What you are saying definitely makes sense Katherine:). Symptom management is always the priority so whatever dosing works I stick with it. I am not a believer in sacrificing symptom management or risking decompensation of any underlying diagnosis because of DM. I have insulin to manage that .

It’s awesome that her symptoms are controlled & you have found what works best for her:bighug:. This is often cat specific vs one general approach.

@Tomlin it feels like I’ve reached level 3 of the FDMB. Level 1 is regulation, level 2 is maintaining regulation/sliding towards remission, and level 3 is managing symptoms of concurrent disease with a diabetic cat.

Heading downward!:p:joyful: And Ruby just licked her bowl completely clean of venison. Why is it that they love the expensive stuff?

BTW, the vet tech is doing really well. He shows up when he says he will and he is doing the testing just fine. In a few weeks I will likely need him to give insulin and pill her. Hope that goes just as well.

Great news :joyful: Just think of it as Ruby has good taste :p

Yes. And doing a level three with a complicated work schedule! I’m happy that your vet tech is working out!
Thanks, Suzanne. Me too. I wish I felt like I could leave her alone during the day but I never know when she’s going to drop as I keep increasing her dose. Having him come costs a lot of money but I don’t feel right leaving her alone for 10 hours a day.

Ooo, nice blue preshot :cat::cat: You go Ruby!

Katherine you are not level 3, you are level 23 when the game is level 3 :bighug: you are doing an amazing job at taking care of Ruby :cat:

i am so happy your tech guy helpful, you cannot believe how much i would pay for someone that shows up when they say they will :rolleyes: with an ongoing reconstruction this is the story of my life :D

take care and hopefully Ruby will show improvement soon enough in her BG as well, just like the other symptoms :bighug:

No way! If you didn’t have him coming then you’d have to have her running pretty high. You could lose precious Ruby which is unthinkable! I was just thinking that it’s too bad he doesn’t live in your building…. then you could offer him discounted rent in exchange for his services.
