Will start testing at odd ball times here and there. Muffins teeth are bad...not just mild tartar/gingivitis. Each dental costs around $1000 and the sanctuary has just had 3 cats complete dentals. Unfortunately money is an issue at all times which makes it hard. Thanks for all the input; I sincerely appreciate it. My goal is remission too. We all did it with Purrcee but Muffin is proving to be a greater challenge.

You will get there, scares me how much dental is wow..... I didn't think it was that much, I too need to look into it for Marvin.... :bighug:

Dental are notorious for preventing remission and taking cats out of it, too :(.
I do not expect us to get it done for Ducia in any foreseeable future:(.

We at home thought that perhaps we can start brushing her teeth using human toddler finger brush and baking soda just a tiny bit of it. Soda is not toxic if swallowed in small amounts. I can get some tartar off but useless for gingivitis, unfortunately.
Someone recommended Healthy Mouth drinking water, ok for diabetic cats but I haven't tried it yet. It is preventive, not fixing solution. Maybe your vet knows it and can give you his opinion?
Here is the link to general info. It is also pricey but not as dental itself (esp in California).

You probably know this but just in case make sure they can take xrays for the dental. Bone etc can be infected below the tooth itself and cause major problems.
I didn't know dentals could prevent remission. I have not heard of the Healthy Mouth drinking water. I will ask my vet about it and see what she thinks.
