Thank you Wendy for your thoughts on Mo's vet visit yesterday.

Today he seems a bit lethargic, but it is quite warm and humid today so I don't blame him. I feel exactly the same. But he is at least hasn't gone up after his AM test so that's a bonus! I'll test him again around +8 and see how he's doing. He's still grooming and wanting to cuddle. Just not lap cuddles because it's too warm. He likes to sit on the kitchen table with us and lay on our arms as we type. It's super cute but does make it more difficult to type.

Hoping for a downward trend today but just sticking around 300 would be a bonus for me!

Have a wonderful day :)

I hope Mo shakes the pinks for you :bighug:

Kitties sure love to give humans challenges we never knew we needed ;) My civvie Benji used to sit on my laptop...that made working especially challenging lol.

Hope you all are having a good day :bighug:

Thanks everyone :)

Mo has been consistently around the low 300s today. Still lethargic but he's happily eating and seems content. Haven't got a good purr out of him today.

Still waiting on those urinalysis results. I emailed the vet but they said they're really sorry and they've been super busy today. I understand the poorly animals take priority, which is totally fine. I imagine if it was urgent they would have called me straight away.

Random questions: Could a trapped hairball cause higher BGLs? He did his weird "trying to cough something up" noise that he used to do when he had a hairball he was trying to get rid of. It's Summer in New Zealand now so he's losing a lot of fur. I'm basically clutching at straws trying to find the reason why he's not getting lower.

Absolutely, seen it numerous times here. Poor little guy. Are you giving him anything for it?

Is the vet during just a urinalysis? If they see bacteria, they might want to culture it too - which takes longer.

Oh good! I'm not giving him anything for it as what I used to give him is high in carbs. Is there something you can suggest?

Yes, just a urinalysis at the moment. If we continue to see high numbers over the next 2 weeks i'll take him in again for a blood test. The vet wasn't overly concerned about him yesterday. She said he had a good body score?

Would this be ok to use? It's for hairballs.

I used to give a little unsalted butter or pure virgin coconut oil, or plain petroleum jelly too. Not sure about the malt extract.

yeah that's what I thought too re the malt extract. I have some coconut oil here i can try on him and we shall see how he goes.

I just received a call from the vet and they said there is no signs of a UTI and no ketones which is great. So that's something to rule out. I did mention that he possibly has a hairball and she said that everything is pretty high is sugar but if the hairball is causing his distress to give him the paste that I have. I think I will try the coconut oil first though :)

Thanks @Wendy&Neko!

PMPS 329! Nice and consistent today. Fingers crossed we don't have any big jumps.

He seems to have perked up from late this afternoon. It's not so humid now, which is nice. I've given him some oil with his dinner so hopefully that will help with his hairball problem.

:bighug:

I also give Butters a little bit of coconut oil regularly. Bonus: she LOVES the taste of it and will lick it right off my finger. I cook with it and she shows up as soon as she smells it, desperately hoping that I might drop some onto the floor.:cat:
Hang in there, Katy. :bighug: I hope Mo climbs out of that cotton candy machine and heads to the lemon tree.

Thanks Lyla :) Mo didn't seem to mind the oil. He will eat anything tbh :woot:
