Good Morning LL!! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (Elsa - lots (!!) please! This bean is so sleepy...), and Happy Monday everyone!
LL! It's is I, Elsa, Lil Bit, kitteh barista!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! GUESS WHAT! Today is CHEERY CHERRY MONDAY!! Lola and Bug want to make their cheery cherry pizza pies. It is after all Monday, and they is now tradition! I have to admit that they are pretty good! i just wish though that they would keep the cheery cherry whip on the pies, and stop squirting it all over the kitchen. They are all pink now... just like last week, and the week before, and the week before that.  OLLIE? Once again we are going to need your sponges! The sliding will be mega good today! so. well. anyways. ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and Double shot espressos, with beans from deep within the mountain slopes of Africa, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: a VENTI Quad cherry infused white mocha/mocha blend with white chocolate chips melted within, topped with a cherry whip garnished with candied cherry sprinkles and white chocolate curls. SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of cheery cherry and chocolate swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with crystallized cheery cherries and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good! TJ's dunking cookies and Cronuts are along for the ride!AND!!!! We gots an extra special treat for today: CHEERY CHERRY CHEESECAKE! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I love cheery cherry Mondays.

I hope everyone had a great Sunday. I sure did. it was another hike day for me, off to The Mt Baker Region and the Baker river. The weather was iffy, but looked as if it would be good for a river hike, so off I went in the hopes that I wouldn't get soaked, or run into those thunderstorms that we have been having for the past few days... got lucky! No rains, no storms, had a great time. I had intended Skyline Divide, or maybe a return trip to Park Butte, but with the weather being what it was: foggy and thunderstorms eminent, I decided that perhaps being on a mountain was not the best place to be.... I have wanted to check out the Baker River Trail, so today I did, fog and low clouds, and all. No mountain view today! No matter though, as the river was very nice. Here is what I wrote in last night's post: "Hi everyone! FINALLY home! Hike was great, the traffic was not... omg! well,a t least I was ON TIME,a nd the kitties did not have to threaten me with that blood oath I signed (no tardiness allowed - EVER!), though they did have it ready.  Hike was good today. I was glad I did not attempt the mountain/ridge ones. It was very wet on the trails up there, would have been an issue, and the fog never did break, so wouldn't have been able to see anything anyways, so good deal it was the river. I liked that hike, it is a very easy one, but the river was really nice. Loved Sulphide Creek at trails end. I read that if it is cross-able there are a few more miles that can be spent next to the Baker River. Not today - that creek was really fast, deep, and I would imagine damn cold... SO we sat there for a bit instead before hiking out. Munched on munchies at the trail head, down on the Baker River. That was really nice. It is about the best spot to access the river from. anyways.... enjoyed it, had a great time. I logged about 8 miles, with minimal effort. Sure were ALOT of folks out camping... trail was deserted though. I think we made maybe 75 here today, sun finally broke at home, but more rains are eminent, t-storms predicted for tonight, sun then tomorrow. I'm glad I left Baker when I did: downpour going on there as I type, t-storms there too. wow, our weather has changed! Here's the Picassa link to the photo and the videos (4 of those): Baker River

Normalcy in MusketeerVille! :-D   Elsa spent the day outdoors, mostly on the deck once the rains stopped in the morning. And - she ate all her fuds, at one slotting! guess she is tired of Bug inhaling what she leaves. In fact she woke me up yesterday morning, with lots of meows! It was almost like days of old with the kitty choir: BJ, Mannie and Elsa. Good job Elsa! Bug has managed within the past few days to annihilate his vertical scratchiness posts. Looks like I will need to go shopping and get another or two. At least he, and Lola, are using them YAY! :-D :-D  Last night as I was posting in the condo I kept hearing this odd noise, coming from the kitchen, Upon investigation I found Lola had climbed the screen door for the slider. She was all the way to the top. :o LOLA! We haven't let her out yet, but well who knows why she climbed it. Maybe she thought there as an opening at the top.  Anyways - great, just great! I so hope she doesn't rip it apart in an attempt to follow big sister out into the wild blue yonder.... ;-) Paws crossed!

Have a great day everyone. I hope to hike again today, we shall see how I feel about that in a few hours, and also on how the weather is shaping up: it is another one of those mornings: rains in some places, along with thunderstorms.... so once again I need to wait some and see how things develop this morning. They keep saying sun, but well, who knows here. They said that yesterday for Mt Baker, and it never did show. ;-)

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN!!

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f

Hi, Michelle!
LOLA! Of course you would climb up the screen door! Silly girl.
We have 3 windows we cannot open due to ripped screens from civvie cat. Grrrr....
I hope Lola is a careful climber, and saves her shredding powers for things like tissues and scratching posts.

Enjoy your day, Michelle! Hugs to your sweet furkiddos!

Hey Michelle,
Lola must be related to Richard Halliburton, he was another one always climbing things for no good reason, just the fun of it.

I hope today was a great one with lots of sunbeams and fun.
hugs and scritches from usins to youins

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f

Oh, that Lola  ! She HAS to come up with at least one or two new things a week...it's her job! I had a cat growing up who climbed the screens. She was an indoor/outdoor kitty, and when she wanted to come back in, she'd rattle the screen on the sliding glass door. If no one responded quickly enough, she would climb to the top :o ! It absolutely thrilled my dad   ! (He was a good sport about it, really...and besides, when a cat wants to do something, there is no stopping her!)

Have a great evening, Michelle!

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f

Hey Lil Bit Pit!

Do you still have the jet?! I know you said you would fly all the west coast kittehs home and then return the jet in the morning after you did your East Coast deliveries. Are you awake to do your deliveries today? You all got home real late, I hope you didn't wake the bean when you got in!

So, I'm a asking.....Did you get the kitchen mess cleaned up, deliveries made and is the jet in the hanger?

I'm not surprised Lola is climbing the screen! Did you see when we tried to get her to walk the plank and instead she climbed up the yacht mast and hung out on the lookout post instead! And then she rode the zip line to safety! Silly girl, just will climb anything to get out of walking the plank.

Good thing Bug wasn't as fast as her and we got him to do it. What a huge splash he made when he went into the water! That was so much fun. I can't wait until we do that again.

Oooooh did you see that Ollie is in trouble?! :o I gave him Johnny Catchron's number since he is now on trial and he needs to get off! Poor Ollie - I hope he Johnny gets him off soon!

Signed Maui the Magnificent, well connected you know

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f

HI Everyone! I hope you all have had a great day today. Mine was good, hike was good, even if the weather did not cooperate. We did 't get any rain, but the fog never lifted up at Baker. ERRRRRR!!!!! Plus it took me three hours to get there!  That last FSR up to thee trailhead was a much of a challenge as it was reported to be: potholed, rocky, washboard gravel, and narrow! I took me close to 50 minutes to drive13 miles. :o and sheer craziness! and.... I get there and it is 100% fogged in. Well I knew the risk of that before I went, as the weather has been iffy up there for a few days. It is what it is, and went anyways. It was 1600 foot climb in about 1.5 miles. That was fun! I feel great tonight despite the effort it took. It is all in how one paces themselves. anyways - finally get topside and it is no better, fog as far as the eye could see, I did the ridge there too, it actually was rather nice, peaceful. I like fog, what it does to all that it touches. Once in a while things would open up, you could see a few things, for maybe a minute. HAHA. The wildflowers up there were gorgeous, and everywhere: very pretty. So I stayed 1.5 hours on the ridge, then headed out, as it was apparent that the fog was not clearing. I will laugh though the minute I get back on that FSR the sun comes out. oh HAHA! I doubt Baker and Shuskan were not out, but it was nice to finally see sun. I spent a few minutes on the Nooksack River, off of FSR 37 ( a break from all those potholes adn that washboard...). Was that ever nice! Love those glacial rivers. so.... not too bad of a day, and I will go back. It has to be outstanding up there on a sunny day, well worth the work to get topside. Loved what I saw, made 6500 feet, hiked maybe 6 miles, climbed 1650 feet. YaHOO! aiyee.... one has to love fog..... I will post the Picassa link in tomorrow's Loose Lips.

Hi Amy - I so agree on Lola! :o   @-)   I think it is her job too. See what she can do today that she didn't do yesterday! Love the story of you kitty that climbed screens. I so suspect that once Lola is let outside she will do the same to get back in, if she hasn't figured out how to open the screen door by then. ;-)

HI Mary - LOL: love that photo! Cold be on Lola  ;-) She climbs EVERYTHING! silly cat. THx on today - it was a good one.
Auntie Mary! THANKS YOU! I like cheery cherry Monday. it's cheery! ~~ Elsa, Lil BIT, kitteh barista

Hi Josie - oh my on your screened windows.... I won't complain about my screen door,at least it is still usable.... So far she has climbed carefully - no tears! YAY! She did look good up in that lookout thingie.... Hee heehee on Bug - I could have sworn he said CANNONBALL! OH NOS on Ollie!! He is on trial????? oh oh, we best go and help. I hope Johnny can helps him Poor Ollie.... ooooooooooooo, a trial! ~~ Elsa, not so well connected..... ~~ Elsa

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f

Hi Michelle,
It's great that you went on another challenging hike today. Those photos of the evergreens on the steep mountain slopes in fog were fantastic. You know, you really should look into publishing a calendar or a portfolio. Your photographs are extraordinary.

Those kitties are running rings around you! It's great that they are providing so much amusement. Every day, something new. How neat!

We had a great paddle today and are tired, too.

Looking forward to seeing your photos tomorrow.

Ella & Rusty

Hi Ella - THX! The hike was a food one. I enjoyed it, even with that constant up up up... alot of feet up in a mile! THX on the photos - I love fog photos, always have. Many thanks too on your comments. It means alot. -- lol on the kitties, and that they are. They are so active. it has been along time since we have had young cats in the house. One forgets what they are like. ;-) I think so too on the something new everyday. Sure does make life interesting. And fun. -- i read about your paddle in your condo - it does sound like a good one: love all the beaver dams you had to get over. You must be tired!
THANK YOU for continuing to visit me, everyday. It means alot.

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f

Michelle, it sounds like you've been getting different weather from us. It keeps promising rain here and fizzling away. The gardens could use it. I loved the photos of yesterday's hike, especially the flowers, fungus and mushrooms. Especially that blue capped one! So cool and unusual. I can hardly wait to see the alpine flowers from today's photo shoot.

Your kitties continue to amuse. :-D That Lola sure likes to climb all sorts of things.

Re: 8/12 LOOSE LIPS: Baker River... foggy, wet and ever so f
