8/12 Jesse AMPS 78, PMPS 71

Set the alarm multiple times last in fear that with a PMPS of 60 he might go too low. Well, after the food spike at +2, he couldn't have had a flatter curve if he tried!

Jesse is acting fine but I'm worried about his runny poo. I bought some psyllium fiber and gave him 1/8t syringed in 3cc water last night. This morning there is no change. Does anyone know how long it takes to show results (if any) and also how often I can give it to him?

He's also lost 11oz in the last month. He has been eating less (which is so unlike him); maybe because he knows he can't poo it all out? He needs to lose weight but I don't want this to be the way he does it. I'm trying to see what I can do for him before I need to take him to the vet. He doesn't seem to be in any distress.

Thanks for any input.

Re: 8/12 Jesse AMPS 78 - fiber ?

Hi Carolyn & Jesse,
Nice numbers! I don't know if "fiber" is the answer. I would try FortiFlora (available at the vet's and online). It's a probiotic and would provide the "good" intestinal bacteria that are needed to regulate the digestive tract. If you can't get FortiFlora right now, try plain, Greek-style yogurt with active cultures. I read somewhere that liquid poo can be a reaction to a partial intestinal blockage (hairball or compacted stool): the poo becomes liquid so as to try to get around the partial blockage. Perhaps you need to see your vet, just to make sure all is OK. The weight loss of 11 ounces in one month is quite dramatic. For your own peace of mind, make an appointment to see the vet.
Sending you some healing vines for liquipoo!

Re: 8/12 Jesse AMPS 78 - fiber ?

I agree with Ella -- that's a lot of weight in a short period of time. I would encourage you to talk to your vet.

Pumpkin puree (not pie filling) is also a good alternative to help with poo problems.

Re: 8/12 Jesse AMPS 78

Hi guys .. love the numbers from jesse, but sorry to hear he is still dealing with liquipoo .. If you can afford to take him to the vet, that might be the best choice, just to make sure he's good to go .. have a great weekend!

Re: 8/12 Jesse AMPS 78

Jesse's numbers look very nice. Sorry to hear about the liquipoo. I use slippery elm bark powder for liquipoo and constipation....it soothes the intestines. I just buy the loose powder at the health food store and mix 1/2 c water and 1 tsp SEB powder. Warm gently in porcelain or glass pan until just a little thicker. Put in glass jar to store. Give up to 5 mls bid. Give separate from any meds by a couple hours as it does coat the intestines.

I hope he's better soon. Also agree that's a lot of weight in one month....

Hi Carolyn, so sorry to hear Jesse is still having liquipoo. You've gotten some good suggestions from everyone. If it doesn't get better, maybe a Vet visit to see what's going on. Cats are pretty good at hiding distress. I hope no more liquipoo tomorrow. Hugs to you and Jesse.

Looks like we're both dealing with some issues, huh?!!! I hope your little dude's potty problems clear up. Nothing more frustrating than asking your kitty what's wrong and them not being able to answer you back in English!!

Thanks for visiting Champ's condo (was it yesterday?). I really appreciate the support!!

Thanks for all the advice.

His numbers continue to be great! It's been 7 days so I think I'll try 1.5u tomorrow. Or maybe a fat 1.5u. I'm not real sure what my current dose is, but I'm calling it 1.75.

Thanks again for the info. Need extra "go poop" vines :-D
