8.12 amps 225 Murphy Another anniversary

Seven years ago today, I adopted Murphy O'Reilly from a local shelter. He had been returned to the shelter after having been with the family who adopted him five years previously. After five years, "they were moving and couldn't take him with them". I have since found out that in the five years, they never took him to a vet, and fed him Purina Cat Chow (this cat who has chronic pancreatitis and IBD). No wonder he was a chronic vomiter. My poor boy must've been terrified at the shelter, and at the weekend in the display cage at PetsMart. Well, their loss is my gain. It took me some time to really bond with him, as my soul kitty had died two months before I got him. I'm so glad fate brought us together.

I've come to terms with him never really being regulated, but we are managing.
Here's hoping for another seven years with him.

Gabby was a shelter adoptee as well but was a kitten when she adopted me. (Typical - she chose; I got the bill.) She was semi-regulated and I wouldn't have traded any of the trials and tribulations for a minute.

Murphy's SS is looking pretty regulated to me!

To be honest I tend to either avoid the cages at petco/petsmart or I end up spending hours giving all of them, especially the mature cats, attention . It just breaks my heart to see them in cages.

Happy Anniversary Carol and Murphy! And yes, here's to another 7 years and more! Stu was a shelter cat who had been returned twice. When we adopted him they said, "you will give him a chance, won't you?". He was a very fine cat and it was fortunate for us that he had been returned.

Murphy O' Reilly, you are one lucky kitty!! Enjoy your anniversary. I'll bet there will be some special treats!

Great news and happy anniversary! Yes, our cats pick us and they know when they found good care givers. I too adopted Harley a nd Davidson. The best two Guys ever! I know anyone who has adopted from shelters or other places has been given unconditional love! Yeah, some of us have to deal with health issues or problems - but we’ll worth it! Hope you get manymany more years of happiness

Just one question? Why don't we get one pic of the Anniversary Boy in his Anniversary thread?

His former owners were XYZ$%^&s. Amazing how some people treat their pets like disposable dishrags.

If you stand back from Murphy's spreadsheet and put it on full screen, that is pretty close to being fully regulated. Some of our kittehs just bounce a bit. There are plenty of blues in there - showing that Murphy is enjoying the good life.

Thank you, everyone, for the sweet sentiments. @LizzieInTexas I do have lots of empathy for those cats in the display cages at Petsmart/Petco. I've seen cats with no water, squeezed together with a tiny litter box. It must be so stressful especially with all those kids and others pounding on the glass but if it gets some adopted, I guess it'd be worth it @Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) I can't believe Stu was returned twice - that must be so traumatic - thank god, the third time was the charm. @Shawna & Davidson Lucky Harley and Davidson and @JeffJ - here's a pic
