Not quite green, but Mr P seems to be doing his thing in his own crazy way! Nothing else going on with sweet Trix today.

We have my Dad's local oncologist appointment today. We're not quite sure what will come of it...the doc hasn't interpreted the PET scan yet, so I guess we'll get the info on that, and probably a recommended treatment plan. We still have Penn on Thursday, too, so a few more days of limbo. We have to get moving, though...too much time is passing now, thanks to being at the mercy of the doctors' schedules...

Thinking of everyone here today....special prayers going out to Anne, Liz, and Zener, and Dyana and J.D.....

Re: 8/11 Trixie AMBG 158 "+3+ 100

Lots of vines and wishes for your appointments. For me, the hardest part was the waiting for staging and my oncologist's suggested course of action. The unknown, I guess. Once we had a plan, everything became one step at a time, one step at a time. But those steps had a direction and that brought focus and purpose to the experience.

Prayers for your dad and your family.

Oh, and Trixie. Way to go!

Re: 8/11 Trixie AMBG 158 "+3+ 100

Thank you, Marilyn. The waiting has been a mixed bag...with no appointments last week, it was a little taste of "This isn't really happening"and we all enjoyed the time. But, it really is happening, so we need to get going now. My Mom is having a hard time, naturally, so that makes this all the more challenging. They are both understandably nervous about starting treatment, knowing THAT can be hard, too. I still remember what you said a few weeks ago...this is yet another marathon, not a sprint....hopefully once we have that focus and purpose, everything will "settle" as much as it can.

Hi Amy.

Sending prayers for peace and direction for your family. I am praying to God for a good outcome for your dad.

Re: 8/11 Trixie AMBG 158 "+3+ 100

Prayers from me that a good treatment plan is in the works and that your dad feels good throughout.

Re: 8/11 Trixie AMBG 158 "+3+ 100

Adding more prayers and good vines for a good doctor visit with lots of helpful info and a plan so you can feel like you are doing something about this! Hopefully that will help eliminate that helpless feeling.

Hugs all around, and keep up the good work, Trixie! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Nice start for Trix this evening!

We visited the local oncologist today....in some ways, no real "new" news. We did find from the PET scan report that there is a lot of "lymph node activity" in his chest cavity, along with the two known tumors, but we already suspected that from the CT scan. The one that was believed to be at the tail of his pancreas looks more like it is actually originating from his stomach....I'm really not sure if this is better news or not, though, since things seem pretty wide spread, but at the same time we had a non-blood-related family member die of pancreatic cancer back in the 80s and we know how particularly evil it is. No surprise, his tumor markers were wicked, but at the same time, his regular BW is perfect....liver- normal, kidneys -normal...the only thing he has going in is very, very slight anemia.

At the same time, his weight is stable, his appy is good, and overall he feels perfectly normal. How frikken' crazy is this...widespread cancer with tumors in the rectum and abdomen with no signs or symptoms at all?????

We discussed treatment options, which I am now researching (of course!), and started the process for scheduling the port installation. We are still going to Penn on Thursday for a second opinion; the local oncologist is 110% on board with that and is more than happy to work in conjunction with the Penn doctors if we choose to do that. I do have to say that we are all very happy with this doctor...hard to find that on the first try!

So that's where we stand now. It's scary to start chemo (especially since he feels so good right now and chemo can certainly mess that up), but at the same time, it's relieving to feel like we could be moving forward....please keep piling on the prayers....

More vines and white light coming your way for your dad. Paws all crossed that you are catching things early (since he has no symptoms) and the chemo can do the job. :YMHUG: Great news that you found a doctor you like - that will help on the journey.

Good to see same old same old for Trixie so you don't have to worry about her.

FInding a doctor that you like and have confidence in is SO important! :-D

I'm glad you have some plans in place and can feel like you're moving forward.

Sending lots more healing vines and prayers. Positive attitudes work wonders, so keep your chin up, and tell your DF to do so, too. You have a lot of support here, and so does he! :YMHUG:

So happy to hear your doctor (ok, I admit it, almost said VET :-D ) is willing to work with Penn if that is the route you go.

Knowledge is power and you have a little more now than you did before. There is something empowering, at least for me, when I am able to take even a little control over something I feel powerless over. You are starting to form a game plan, and looking to get it in place, which is amazing.

Sending smiley vines to your entire family...

As for Ms. Trixie....hey gurrrrl, stop with those higher numbers.....lets hit us some double digits!

a friend of ours has a brain tumor, amy, and it's been a scary ride. it was diagnosed about a year ago when he had a seizure. He's had 4 brain surgeries since then and has a chemo chip implanted to try to reduce it. He's probably 67 or so.

I've talked to him about the chemo and apparently the chemo drugs are not nearly as hard on a person as they used to be. There are more drug choices available and the docs will tailor what they give him to be what he needs and try to make it as easy on him as possible. they also have drugs to counter the negative side effects of the chemo drugs. What i'm hearing is that fatigue is the main side effect.

I'm sharing that story because i have found it very hopeful. He assures me that he doesn't feel nauseous at all and that it really hasn't been too bad. I hope that your dad find that to be true as well.

:YMHUG:

Many vines for DF and your family. I'm glad you like the doc and he will work with the Penn docs. Thank you for thinking of Zener and his beans. :-D :-D We really appreciate your caring. Go, Trix, right into the lagoon tonight!
Liz

It sounds like you have the best possible working together for your DF. With so many of us sending prayers and vines I hope you all feel our positive energy.

First of all, give Trixie big scritches from me for being such an awesome little kitty. She must know that you're dealing with something bigger than her and she's just being the purrrrfect little angel kitty. o:-) Second, I'm so happy that you all have found a doctor you like and that he's on board with the second opinion AND that there is a "plan" being talked about. Last, but not least, I'm still saying lots of prayers for your DF and family. Prayers include, but are not limited to, may he continue to be comfortable, symptom & sign free and surrounded by great people. Big hugs, Amy! :YMHUG:

Hi Amy,

Your dad and family will continue to be in our prayers for peace and that he continues to feel good throughout any treatment. I will pray that God will protect him and heal him.
