So our road trip is done and we are settled in. So far Tiki has diarrhea and isn't really eating. Hoping this will pass as he is pretty relaxed overall. Last month when we traveled to VT he had one day of diarrhea and then was fine. Not sure to blame the stress of the trip or the new water in his system (my dog usually goes through this too when we are here (Cape Cod), tho oddly she was fine last month when we went to VT). Wonder if missing two shots could have affected his system (the runs) too??? Glad his BG was high as he isn't eating much.

Any advice if he continues to not eat (ie shooting insulin?). This just started today so right now I'm not too worried. He's been here before and adjusted fine. He is a reaaaaally good traveler. Not a happy traveller, but he's really cooperative and usually just rolls with it.

If you have any FortiFlora, you might try adding that to Tiki's food to see if it entices him to eat. Alternatively, baby food or any other favorites may be worth trying.

Be sure any baby food has no vegetable broth, as this may contain onions, which are toxic to cats.

fancy feast appetizers seem to entice most kitties.... I think you can even find them at corner convenience stores altho' you'll pay a bunch.... :shock:
they are zero to really low carb....

Hi guys,
Probably Tiki will settle in after a day or so. Those trips can be stressful. Rusty always has high numbers when we take him anywhere. If Tiki's numbers continue to be high, it might be best to give some insulin, even if he is not eating normally--maybe half your usual dose? But try to find him something to eat that he loves. For Rusty, that is Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets Classic (available everywhere).

Where does one find fortiflora? I think I tried once with the FF Apps and he turned his nose up at them. Which was surprising as they looked like yummy people food, I even thought they looked appetizing. I got him to eat some of his regular FF chicken. Usually he wolfs it down and howls til I put his bowl down. Tonight he's just blah, like a stoner without the munchies. :lol: :lol: Hopefully he will snap out of it tomorrow. The grocery store is on the to do list tomorrow, will check out the baby food as a back up.

You'd have to order FortiFlora online.

Gerber or Beechnut Stage 2 baby food are protein + broth (and some cornstarch in the Gerber). If Tiki likes deli meat, that's fine providing it's just plain meat -- no honey glazed or added broth.
