Good morning everyone.
Tigger is good this morning, hungry as usual but good.

I made Taco salad last night and he actually ate a piece of onion from it. Since when do cats eat onions with salsa on it???

FWI
Onions are very toxic to cats. Potentially fatally toxic, in fact. They cause abnormalities in the red blood cells leading to their destruction and severe anemia (called Heinz body anemia due to the structure created within the blood cells), and can also cause kidney failure. This can happen relatively quickly, and with only a small amount of onion. It has been known to happen after cats ate baby food with onion powder as an ingredient. Garlic is in the same plant family, and can cause the same toxicity. Cats have died from people giving them garlic tablets as a way to prevent fleas (which garlic does NOT do, and has been studied scientifically). These plants are also potentially toxic to some dogs, but the risk is nowhere nearly as serious as with cats.

So keep all of this in mind. NEVER give your cats anything with any onions or garlic in them. This is a very serious toxicity, and requires intense hospitalization and even blood transfusions once symptoms begin.- Taken from A Vet's Guide to Life

That is good to know. And I see the onion was still there so he licked the taco sauce off the onion by the looks of it.

I didn't think he would touch such a thing, and in the past wouldn't have thought twice.

I didn't know that about onions and cats, either. I know that cats aren't ever (or dogs, for that matter) to have chocolate. Not that I would ever give either animal chocolate anyway.

Hoping for Tigger to give you better #s today. Come on down a bit more, will ya, Tigger? There's plenty of room for you in the yellows! :) Have a great day, guys! :-D

His appetite has become very broad of late, he'll eat just about anything i drop, like a dog would.
Now I have to put stuff away immediately or he'll be in it.

Hoping the food increase will stop that. Him licking the onion blew me away.

i didn't know that about the onions and garlic either - good to know. punkin's a hoover too - he'll eat almost anything. i found him with his face in a muffin paper a couple of weeks ago. since when do cats eat muffins?

Hi guys .. tigger, come down off that pink floor ok? I knew about the onions, but I never knew about the garlic .. also found out the $$$ way that lily flowers are VERY toxic to cats .. so if tigger is a curious eater, don't bring those into the house .. have a great day!
