Drat! I tried to give Ollie his one drop this morning. Everything seemed just lovely until i looked at the syringe after his shot. the needle was bent at a wacky, just over 45 degree angle and pushing in the plunger released his 1 drop. So, the cat got about zippity insulin this morning :sad:
Ollie has gone btb with dad. So far, only LB Ps in place.

A very nice amps this morning for Oliver. What a bummer on the fur shot. He will recover soon enough. Right Oliver? ;-)

Sorry about the fur shot. I think Oliver will recover quickly. This might give you an idea about a trial and whether you need to continue the one drop.

Well, I look at this as an opportunity to see just how Ollie does with no insulin. From your +3, it looks like Ollie's pancreas kicked in and brought his numbers back down. That looks very promising!!

Hi Mary. Judging from Oliver's +3 number the fur shot might have been a blessing in disguised. When you begin his trial you'll be more confident. You have done sooooo well with Oliver Mary. He's one lucky kitty!

Maybe this is a good thing maybe you can go OTJ with us, glad you got to have some yummy fuds and some of the party favors, this could be a long day :lol:
 
Just in case you decide to make it "official," --

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If your cat is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
  • After 2 weeks, if everything is looking good, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.
