Looking at his numbers after the flea treatment and change of food, I wonder if one or the other was the reason for his higher numbers.
Do you have to leave at +5 for the vet appointment or sooner?
ETA: You could ask the vet for a prescription for gabapentin. Helps calm cats down before vet visits, travel etc.
Thanks. Carrier loading is always fun.
Feel better Herman. Keep us posted on the Vet visit.Thanks. Carrier loading is always fun. He’s already looking at me funny. Plus he’s working at coughing up a fur ball I hope he doesn’t vomit on way there, poor little dude.
I guess since results are going to take until at earliest Monday - more likely Tuesday she said I could wait for results or start now.Why does the vet think there could be a UTI? The hair pulling? Not sure you want to start Baytril without confirmation of an infection. Want to wait and see if the unclogging the anal glands takes care of the hair pulling?
He wasn't doing any scooting but he definitely sat sometimes with his bottom really tucked under him. So hard to know!I wonder if the anal gland could be the cause of hair pulling? I’ve never had a cat with that problem but have had dogs that have. They scoot on their bottom. One would tgem make funny head gestures.
Good luck with the increase!
How about a middle ground? Give it today and maybe tomorrow to see if the tail pulling/licking of his privates stops after the declogging of the anal glands. If it doesn't, then start Baytril? I would have thought a UTI would manifest in some symptoms related to peeing. I don't know if the better numbers are from the food change/flea treatment or him just getting closer to a better dose.Do you think I should wait? I see pros and cons to both options but I have no previous experience whatsoever with Diabetes so if yesterdays blue numbers could possibly mean an infection is not likely then I guess I should hold off on Baytril.
That sounds like a reasonable planHow about a middle ground? Give it today and maybe tomorrow to see if the tail pulling/licking of his privates stops after the declogging of the anal glands. @tiffmaxee what do you think?
Totally agree except I would give it a couple of days. Giving unnecessary antibiotics results in resistance to them when needed. I would have thought she would have don3 a urinalysis and culture and sensitivity if there was bacteria as Baytril might not even be the correct antibiotic. How about a middle ground? If you enter it line by line like I've done, you can add past/ future results and see trends.OR should I enter in the values line by line as you have done?
Yes, that's why I don't want him to be started on them unless absolutely necessary.Giving unnecessary antibiotics results in resistance to them when needed
Also, do you want to get one of those Feliway (or similar) collars and see if that helps with his anxiety?
Got it. We will wait and see a few days.If you enter it line by line like I've done, you can add past/ future results and see trends.
Guess what I’m doing tonight.Hope my “occasional dyslexia” doesn’t kick in while staring at those numbers!

Never heard of such a thing! Will look into it. Not sure he will accept a collar though….Also, do you want to get one of those Feliway (or similar) collars and see if that helps with his anxiety?
Ooh a plug in option could be good. I’ll look for one.FWIW, any only my two cents, Cleo's numbers are very much affected by her poop. The better the poop, the better numbers. I try to give her a feeding or two a week of Weruva's Truluxe On the Cat Wok. Its 3.8% carbs on ME basis and the carbs are from pumpkin and potato starch. It took a lot of experimenting with her to figure this out, and ECID, but Cleo reacts "itchier" with food that has carbs from tapioca, wheat, soy and corn gluten, but has responded well with carbs, even at a slightly higher %, from pumpkin, potato, sweet potato and chick peas.
Cleo has idiopathic cystitis brought on by (perceived) Stress. The Feliway Plug-In near her litter box has helped. Haven't tried the collar.
Don't worry about it. Take a break till PMPS. Good luck with the increase.Holy jump at +8 is that even possible wonder if +7 was mistake.
