Same AMBG as yesterday - day ten, begin again? I'm running out of rhymes. I mixed in a bit of Boreal (new low glycemic canned food) with her DM and didn't see a change in BG so it should be okay - though I understand that the salmon content means it won't be good for everyday feeding.

What are your fave canned foods? I've pored over the lists and there's a lot of info on there so I'm looking for personal recommendations. I used to make raw wet food for Mottyl - it was cheap but I always worried I was going to get the proportions wrong and harm her somehow (I can't follow Dr. Lisa's recipe exactly, it made my brain hurt). And having so much raw chicken around made me nervous - I was raised to fear salmonella more than nuclear war. Anyway, making food myself is something I'll definitely consider in the future, but for now I need something easy and available.

Blah blah blah - happy Sunday everyone!

How about day ten and feelin zen!

Nice job Mottyl! Keep up the excellent work! I personally like the Nature's Variety chicken that Skooter is on right now. I found it on amazon.com for what looks like it averages out to $1.89/5.5 oz can....

Good thing Skooter has a couple days to rest up before your OTJ party....he is certainly gonna have fun tonight at Mona's!!!

The short story is that I feed both Gabby and Gizmo (non-diabetic) Wellness chicken or turkey.

The long story is that we started out on Fancy Feast. I switched to raw. I bought a pre-mix which was so much easier than trying to find all of the ingredients for Dr. Lisa's recipe. I could make 2 weeks worth of food and freeze the chicken in portions. I'd then defrost the food. I went to raw because my guys wouldn't eat the high priced, human grade food. At one point, my shipment of pre-mix was delayed. I had some Wellness in the house and gave it a try. They ate it and ate well. I've stuck with the Wellness because it was saving me a lot of time.

Beautiful start to  DAY 10! Congratulations!

For food, we feed a variety. Primarily to ensure that our pickiest civilian eats enough. He gets bored quickly without variety and won't eat. We rotate a few varieties to keep him interested. Currently my favorites in the rotation are the Fancy Feast classics, Turkey & Giblets is almost always eaten with enthusiasm. I also like a couple of the non-fish Weruva Cats in the Kitchen varieties. We had good luck too with several of the Wild Calling varieties, but I wonder if they possibly changed their formula recently, as even Eddie (who is not picky), has been turning his nose up. We've recently added a couple Merrick's varieties to the line up and those seem to be going over pretty well.

TC Feline is the premix I think Sienne was referring to. It is easy to mix up, you don't need to grind bones w/ it. Tess loved it, but too high in phosphorus once she was Dx w/ kidney problems. They are based in Canada. Quite frankly I like the ingredients in the Canadian version better than the one available in the US. I may try to get DH's nephew who just moved to Vancouver to send me some of their new low phosphorus formula, not available in the US yet.
