This 228-116 is a huge drop for us at +3. I will obviously be staying up tonight to gather more info and to monitor, but what does everyone think about our day? Should I be seriously concerned for +6?

Hi Emily, Pearl is still in safe territory, but it seems to me she's having an active cycle, she's coming down from her flat yellows earlier today. I would feed a bit of food, maybe a 4-5% carb if you have it, then retest at +4.

Unfortunately my only other food option is 29% carb because she is on a limited ingredient diet with duck protein only.

I will test again shortly and see if I need to use the 29% food. Currently, she is romping around the house happily, so I feel okay about this now. Thank you for your response!

Ah, ok, I have a smorgasbord of carbs in my pantry for such occasions ;), 29% carb is quite high, I think I've used 20% only once or twice, then found I could steer with less carbs, even on steep drops I can use 9-10% and we can get back up, but every cat is different. You may want to look into another potential food, carbs somewhere in between what you normally feed, and your 29% carb...sometimes just a little extra carb can do the trick, and slow down the drop in BG. I'll be around and will check in... if you are seeing anything too drastic on your next test, just post. Happy to help if I can :)

It would be kind of hard to do, but if all you have is high carb and low carb, you can mix them to make something in between (but with one at 30% you wouldn't need to add much!)

Usually if you have some that's like 18% and some that's 4%, you can mix half and half to make a new food that's 11%

That is definitely my temporary plan if need be. Looking into our other options and scouring my canned food lists for LID mid-range options!

Hmmm +5 is 142, this is with NO addes snack. I was just starting to think our nadirs were regulating at +6 :-( what do you recommend I do next?

When's his next usual meal? I'd just go ahead and feed him when he's due for his next feeding and call it a night if you want to.

Next regular meal is at 6:40a.. so she's got another 7 hours to go. I think I will call it a night and hope for blue in the morning.

Well that's interesting, looks like she's finished dropping, I wouldn't worry about testing again for this evening. I've had this happen on occasion, and happily take the extra sleep ;). Still a good number on AT2, don't be disappointed, Pearl was running around, she's obviously feeling good at these numbers, which is awesome!
