It was a rough weekend. Sprocket was better on sat n sun while I got severe vertigo condition that put me in hospital all day saturday. Sunday slept all day. Monday I was better but he was peeing all over again sonto er vet we went again.
This time they did bloodwork & gave onsior for 3 days & said to do gabepentin 3x a day now, & added prazosin 2xday for 7 days.
Orbax last dose was monday pm.
So so far he is ok. Looking sleepy. Hanging around AC vent sometimes. Eating with fortiflora encouragement mostly.
I wish he would eat without the fortiflora cause its expensive.

So what can I do to help him feel better?
While keeping his bg good. I am afraid to let him go too low now cause his eating is so unpredictable. While he has been like this he has been in 200s & 300s. He dropped 98 pts this am to 187 at +3.6. I gave 2 carb, he ate about 1.5oz ( less than his normal) & he had some bites of 4carb left over from 1st meal at amps.
At +5.3 /212.
So how do I deal with this?
I am scared for him.

First thing, see if you can find some lower phosphorus low carb food. FF is pretty high in phosphorus. Add lots of water to the food. Add Cosequin to his food if you are not already. Maybe a change of diet will interest him in eating more.

Get Feliways plug ins and put them in the areas he likes to hang out. FLUTD flares are often related to stress. Get the radio/TV or music playing so he doesn't hear the airplanes as much.

Gabapentin will make him sleepy, but I have heard that after a couple weeks they get used to it and less sleepy. I used buprenorphine for pain instead.

Take care of you too, so you can take care for Sprocket. :bighug:

In a previous post, @Wendy&Neko mentioned Adequan. Just wanted to reinforce that and suggest you discuss options with your vet. I found this overview helpful and wanted to point out this excerpt specifically:
Adequan isn't used just for joint health in cats. Some vets may prescribe it for cats suffering from certain forms of feline lower urinary tract disease. FLUTD was formally known as feline urological syndrome (FUS) and is also referred to as feline idiopathic cystitis. Using Adequan on a cat with FLUTD might help strengthen the bladder's mucous lining, preventing inflammation that may cause urinary tract diseases.
Rose receives 2 subcutaneous injections weekly primarily for arthritis but since she has also struggled with long term UTI and LB issues, I discussed this ancillary benefit with my vet and we are continuing to use this for as long as it is helpful.

Best to you and Sprocket!!

Take a look at the food list on Tanya's site for low Phosphorus foods. It's done in order of Phosphorus value, so if you're looking for a particular food on it, it's a bit of a pain. I bought her book, so if you want to know the value of a particular food and can't find it on this list, ask me and I'll look it up for you.

No other advice from me, just vines for both of you. :bighug:
