day before yesterday's condo - didn't get a chance yesterday

Nova's in a good mood this morning.. I did her test and shot out in the cat run and that's by far her favourite place.. she just wanders around the cat run aimlessly checking things out.. pretending like she doesn't know she's the star of the show.. and then does the whole "who ME?!?!" when she decides to "figure it out." She's such a diva and I love her for it.

Not really sure what this ridiculously tiny amount of insulin is doing for her.. if anything at all.. I can explain away most of the "curve" she's getting with activity level and meter variance probably.. Nova marches to her own drum that's for freaking sure..

Think I'm at the mommy needs a security blanket stage :).

Nothing wrong with being a bit of a diva and nothing wrong with a Mom wanting a bit of a security blanket for a while. She's doing so wonderfully well. Doesn't look like you'll need that blanket for too long. Nice to see a fellow Edmontonian on the board.

Re: 8/01 Nova - PS1=94, +4=97, PS2=85

I told Nova after her +4 today that I wasn't really ready to try no insulin yet.. that I have been dragging her down the dosing scale slowly from 0.6.. and now it's her turn to lead the way.. when she was ready.. she could give me a <90 (<5.0 on the international scale, that's why the weird number ;) ) pre-shot test and we'd give it a shot.. I said this knowing that she's not really curving much.. so I don't know if she's getting anything as it is.. that her having a <90 pre-shot is a REALLY rare occurrence and that it has been taking her most of a week to settle into each reduction.

Her response.. "Happy 10 month anniversary since I was dx with diabetes mommy".

I worry that with TID it's too much of a drop.. but I can't figure out how to draw anything less up. I whispered Lantus in her ear.. let's see where that gets us.

so you didn't shoot? Good luck!

If this doesn't work, usually with the TID kitties what they try next is stretching out the timing to see if they can stretch the cycles back out to BID.

OOooh that's a good idea (and sounds like a great idea sleep wise haha). Yeah if she slips I imagine I'll have to go up to 0.2 or 0.3 (or higher.. this is Nova after all ;) ) TID for a while to get another shot at it.. but going down to BID after is a great idea.

The insulin is a part of her "treatment" right now, but it's only one piece is what I am figuring so if she wants to go full speed with trying without, I'm game.. we're still doing the diet, exercise sessions multiple times a day, lots of positive energy floofy stuff ;), omega3 and extra water.. all of which is supposed to help in how efficiently she uses the insulin that she's making..

I don't doubt that the fortiflora plays a role too.. esp with all of her digestive system problems.. I only became aware about 6 weeks ago that my vet was even able to order it.. when we discovered that Jerry was allergic to the clindamycin we were giving him to fight an infection.. and we were trying to heal all the damage we'd done misinterpreting his allergic reaction :(. That's my Jerry-Beary.. taking one for the team.
