Much calmer this morning! :-D Looks like Zener had a nice slide last night and ate well this morning, CPC even! He had a progressive breffis, starting on the footstool, then the picnic table, then the front window, then my office window. Oh, and on his little bridge somewhere in there too.  I'll have to take a picture of that sometime. He did not eat on the bench or in the bed with sleeping Anne (where he is now).

OT: Here is the best way to deal with wasps.

Paws crossed for Cleo on her OTJ trial. Thinking of Kathie who is grieving Zeus. Many healing vines to Jupiter and hugs to Jamie dealing with the vet. I have to go check on the Mags, she may need more poo vines and enema vines. Happy Tuesday LL!
Liz

Hi Liz. Looks like Zener is going to surf the blue zone this morning.

Much better and safer way to deal with wasp! Have a great day Liz.

Re: 7/9 Zener AMPS 159;+2 155

Hi Liz,

Is that yellow thing filled with wasps? I afeared of dem!!!
Thank you for the well wishes - so glad Zener is having a good day too!!

Re: 7/9 Zener AMPS 159;+2 155

Nice surf! I like quiet mornings too. Ah, the Moveable Feast! Kittehs do like variety.

What is the white in the bottom of the wasp trap? Did you trap all those since taking down the nest?

Re: 7/9 Zener AMPS 159;+2 155;+4.5 174

Hi Liz, looking really nice today for Zener.
I, too, am curious about the yellow wasp catcher. Are you trapping and then releasing to the wild? :?
Thanks for all the vines and good wishes for Mags.

Re: 7/9 Zener AMPS 159;+2 155;+4.5 174

The wasps in the trap are yellow jacket wasps and we've had the trap up for about a month. Uh, no, we don't release them. I wouldn't trap them if they stayed away but I couldn't eat my lunch on the patio without being bothered by them. The wasp nest that I took down was a different kind of wasp, I don't know what kind. And it only had about 5 wasps and was about a quarter of the size of my fist, so not really terrible scary.

Ann, I'm not sure what you mean by the white thing. The cone in the middle is how the wasps get into the trap. There is some bait in the bottom that has a smell that they like.

Nice start for the day, Zener, but you gotta go the other way! Now that's a better way to deal with your little friends. Keep your appy up, Zener!

Have a good, quiet day!

Nice blue surf for Zener. So cute with the progressive breakfast. I've never seen a wasp trap like that. What do you do after they are in it?

I love blue surfs! :-D :-D You've just reminded me it's time to get the wasp trap out. What do you bait yours with?

Re: 7/9 Zener AMPS 159;+2 155;+4.5 174

Beautiful blue surf today Zener my boy!! Yahoo for Blue. Do you buy bait for your traps? where?
we've given up finding bait and use a little soda or cake. I almost feel sorry for them when they go in..almost, but not quite.
I hope there's a nice traveling meal tonight and it gets all eaten up.
have a great evening. mary and ollie

Re: 7/9 Zener PMPS 232

After starting with a blue cycle, Zener took the up escalator to the sunny yellow floor and is sliding down again at PMPS. Today was our 2nd time giving fluids. We tested at shot time as advised, then one hour later and numbers were on the way up. This could still be some bounce behavior but any data is good data! We were much more calm this time, but night duty bean (Anne, that's me) wasn't quite as successful with needle insertion. When we started the fluids, Zener had a leak. I pulled the needle out and we had a nice little fluid fountain. So, back in goes the harpoon Captain Ishmael. Then we start seeing the tell tale bump. Toward the very end, we got a bit more leaking, so we think most of the fluids got in. It will take a little practice to be smooth like butter. Through the whole procedure, Zener sat on his stool calm, cool and collected. MamaLizBean brushed his head and cheeks while the fluids were going in and that was very popular! cat_pet_icon

Now, about that wasp trap...
@carla - Liz took the trap and stuck in the freezer overnight, then dumped the wasps into a plastic bag and squished it, just in case anyone was still alive. :?

@Wendy & Neko - LOVE the blue - eyes and numbers! I'm not sure what the bait is, some sort of chemical pellet that sits in the bottom of the trap. We ordered it from Amazon.com

@Mary and Ollie - he got up in the yellows mid-cycle to the end, but we got too busy to post on his condo. We got our traps from amazon.com and the little pellet too. It is supposed to last for 6-8 weeks. Appy is decent tonight, a bit of traveling outside in the backyard.

Hope everyone has a calm and dramafree Tuesday evening in LL. :YMHUG:

Re: 7/9 Zener PMPS 232

It sounds like you're already getting the hang of fluids...of course, you do have the model patient there! Looks like Z kept things on a pretty even keel today...maybe he's got plans to keep the MamaBeans busy tonight??

Re: 7/9 Zener PMPS 232

Hi Liz and Anne and Zener,

I chuckled when reading about the fluid fountain, sorry  I experienced that with Zeus several times. Zener had some nice blues today, hopefully he will turn his tushie around and get back down to the blue floor. Z-man, you can do it!

Have a good night,
Kathie

Re: 7/9 Zener PMPS 232;+2.5 199

Well, well....happy appy and numbers going down in a controlled fashion, who catnapped the mighty Z?

@Amy & TrixieCat - well, I wouldn't say we're getting the hang of the fluids just yet. But we were definitely less stressed about it this time. And we do have a model patient, he is such a trooper.

@Kathie - aha, so Zeus had a few fountain baths too? We feel so much better. As requested, he's back in the blues again tonight.

Not sure if we'll have a late night yet or not. Time will tell.
